Why do we believe in God?

For the record, I wasn't suggesting that military funding be decimated. I was only saying that it would be nice if it weren't necessary. If it weren't then I would have all that money transferred to NASA and medical science. I forgot to mention clean/alternate energy earlier. However, I do believe that military funding should have a great amount cut.

I don't look away. In fact I said that science can be used for evil but is inherently not while some religions or religious ideals are.

Then you agree with what I was saying... Religion and Science are both good and used in bad ways. Religion really does teach you to respect one another, but there's those extremists out there that use it for hate.

But religion also teaches you to hate one some certain groups and those teachers are not extremists. Even when science is used in bad ways, good things can come out of that, I cannot say the same for religion.

But science has not done anything wrong. Now what people do with scientific knowledge may be wrong, though it rarely happens. However, religion is used for bad purposes daily. I don't see how the study of reality could possibly be a bad thing.

Does not. Why does it matter how it's used? science used used for badly daily too. I'm pretty sure religion will never kill even half of what an atomic bomb can. or those good ol machine guns used every day in countries on their civilians.

How would be the fall of society. That would just be the dawn of fat people in scooters but those scooters will be well build and reliable because of science. And in X years science will have figured out how to stop obesity through medication, procedures, et cetera. But society would not fall from that because of the beauty of science. It allows hardships(like putting the key into the ignition) to be easier or be eradicated, religion cannot do that. A lot of religions tell you to hate your neighbor if they are homosexual. Religion has also killed more than either atomic bomb did or any atomic bomb we have now can.

At the rate we're going, it's not gonna be cured. I'm pretty sure there's already a cure for everything out there. But why cure people when you can keep selling them treatments instead and make money off them ey!?

You made the statement about the ignition, I just used it to prove a point. Oh and those treatments make more money for research into the origins of the universe or to improve our understanding of the universe. That equals more knowledge and knowledge equals power. Some religions hardly allow for the expanding of knowledge. Maybe if they cared to research what they think the origin of the universe is, we could be farther in technology than we are currently. Science allows us to gain the knowledge and the power explore farther and dream bigger. Religion can only allow us to do one of those.

Lmao.... the treatment goes into the pockets of greedy doctors. It's all a system to me. big corporations make money selling candy on haloween. kids then get cavities, and have to go to the dentist. It's all for money. So when you guys say that science is all good, idk what you think you're talking about. And that whole space mumbo jumbo comes out of out money. I think it's a waste.
