Personally, I like a guy that will take charge of the situation. I admit it. However, I do not want some guy that just wants to be a jerk. If he wanted to be begged, he'd have to find a dog...

Nobody wants a jerk at all. Ignore the jerk and like you say Tink, find a dog!! Sensitive and caring people do rock and are cool! As well as that indeed being what the Lord wants you all to be.

Guys do it because to many guys(and women) relationships are a power struggle.

My personal belief is that there shouldn't be a power game, and I try not to get caught up in them. I have had relationships that go down that path, and I'll tell you it blows.

As far as everyone saying they've dated people they haven't liked but for the looks aspect, well, I'm guilty.

But it hasn't happened since I was 19, but high school was fun for seeing how high I could do on the dating meter. I reached the top, so it was a moral victory

This I would have to agree with. In my younger days I might have fallen for that other game, but as I gotten older and more confident - I tend not to deal with a guy who doesn't treat me the way I wish to be treated. No one deserves to be forced to beg to be treated nicely.

True. The difference is that we're honest about it, and don't go around saying we want a nice girl and don't care what she looks like.

But... to be perfectly honest, I've noticed that most girls seem to prefer manipulative jerks. Seriously. See, when I like a girl, I tend to be a lot nicer than usual. Of all of the crushes I've had, none of them were interested when I was interested in them. However... after I start working on killing the crush I tend to turn into a jerk (just because I have to build that space between us, not because I've been rejected), and what do you know... the girl comes running... usually by the time that I've moved on.

It's really retarded. I guess I'll know when I've found the right girl when she actually responds to my being nice to her right off the bat rather then when I've moved on and am being a jerk.

At least I am not the only one that sees this, and it seems to be alot more in the younger crowd 20 and under.
