Why do so called interpreters who 'translate' the Word of God actually pervert it?

Umm...a door jam is spelt “jamb”.

You make the point very well, though.

Strong's suffers from word study fallacies.

It is better to consult an lexicon like the Theological Dictionary of the NT by Kittel-Friedrich

The NIV is one of the worst of them. I use KJV, weird for a Lutheran, i know.

What is wrong with the NIV? I don't like the word "vault" in Genesis 1, but otherwise that chapter is much better in the NIV than several other Bibles. (I did a parallel reading of five versions on Bible Hub.)

The major criticism I'm familiar with for the NIV is that it has an evangelical Protestant bias in the word choices.

For example, Acts 1:20 which discusses the vacancy of the Apostles left by Judas, Peter says in Young's Literal Translation "or it hath been written in the book of Psalms: Let his lodging-place become desolate, and let no one be dwelling in it, and his oversight let another take."

The Greek for "oversight" says: Τὴν ἐπισκοπὴν αὐτοῦ "Thn episkophn autou" i.e. episcopal and oversight is the direct meaning of "episkopos"

Other translations lean towards an office of bishop or something along those lines.
KJV: and his bishoprick let another take.
RSV: ‘His office let another take.’

However, the NIV translates it as
“‘May another take his place of leadership."

This definitely changes the emphasis of an office to just a role.

There are other similar issues that I have with the NIV American Evangelical Protestant bias.
