Have you not read Exodus 20:11?

Exodus 20:11
11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

So, this verse combines the creation of the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1) with the six days in which God made everything and His "resting" on the seventh day (Genesis 1:2-2:3). These words are part of the Ten Commandments written by the finger of God (but all Scripture is God-breathed).

Similarly, Jesus affirms a short duration of the creation.

Mark 10:6
6 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’

Matthew 19:4
4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’

If Adam and Eve were from the beginning of creation, creation couldn't have taken millions of years between the beginning and sixth day. He also defined the stars as the way for men to track seasons and years (fourth day).

That doesn't begin to address the spiritual issue of allowing millions of years of death prior to the creation of man and the fall of man. The gap theory, as all millions of years theories, assumes death before sin. But God said His creation was very good (Genesis 1:31). Humans weren't the only ones who died by sin--all creation suffered (Romans 8:20-22), including animals' dispositions (Genesis 9:2) and their diets (compare Genesis 1:30 with today's reality). These animals will be brought back to their Edenic state as Jesus heals the earth and removes the curse (Isaiah 11, Isaiah 65). In fact, Adam and Eve's sin resulted in God making the first blood sacrifice to provide them clothes (Genesis 3:21).

Because it didn't happen,
Because it's bad science, buoyed only by the lack of any other explanation outside of the Bible,
Because it's the wedge atheists use to come to these forums pretending to be religious scholars while attacking the Scriptures in every post,
Because we already have a relationship with the God they deny,
Because we know our Lord and Savior would have corrected the story had it been told incorrectly,
Because our Lord is so incredible He could recreate the world in six minutes if He so desired,
Because we revere the Scriptures as the word of our God and reject any attempt to diminish it.

Actually some "Christians" will stop believing in a literal return of Jesus. This is based in part by their foundational rejection of God's creation account and the global flood.

2 Peter 3:3-9
3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

The same verse (2 Peter 3:8) the scoffers routinely take out of context to support their rejection of Genesis 1 is in this passage where God calls out their foolishness.

I urge you to repent and believe God's Word, spoken by His authority! How foolish it is to try to elevate man's word and man's authority above God's place! Man is nothing but God's creation. God is patient on account of those who are being saved, but like Noah's day, He will put an end to mankind's rebellion.

See, according this account and your own words of today's reality (a significant number of professed Christians rejecting the Bible's creation account), the foundation is set for the great apostasy. I implore you to repent. Don't be among them.

At best Genesis dates to Moses, who was a reformer of the religious practices and beliefs of the group he lead out of Egypt. What Bible did they use in Egypt??? And Abraham's religion was originally that of his father "

From Abram to Moses there would have been rituals, beliefs traditions etc which influenced Judaism

I have yet to meet a Christian who could show how evolution was not disproved by the Scriptures. I have yet to meet a Christian who believes in the Bible and evolution equally; since they are mutually exclusive. I have yet to find a passage in the Scriptures where Christ told us that Genesis was only the recording of bronze age goat herders.

Whay at best? Because that's what even Genesis says, that Moses wrote it. The Pentateuch claims in many places that Moses was the writer, e.g. Exodus 17:14; 24:4–7; 34:27; Numbers 33:2; Deuteronomy 31:9, 22, 24.

Except, of course, where we learn there is a solid firmament over our heads that holds back the waters above, the earth rests on pillars, and that the sun, rather than the earth, stopped its movement as the cause of the long day for Joshua.

But why would that imply there was nothing to work with or from?
You think a guy like Noah wouldn't think it important to also take God's word with him?

The religions of authority divide men. In their failure to live up to the ideals of Jesus embodied in the "gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven" they created a religion about Jesus and in so doing reestablished the Sanhedrin and all it's negative consequences.

If the Word cannot be lost then where is that scripture that they all worded from? Why did they not preserve it? Why did the Hebrews not preserve their secular history books mentioned in the Bible?

Who says they didn't?
But when you use it, it will fall apart in time, even when you don't use it.
They did preserve an copy Moses' version though, which has some added clarifications.
