who said we hated a certain group/people?  did we, or did the rest of the world say that?

We didn't say that.  I think that when Christians disagree with sin the world wants to label us as hating them.  Of course nothing could be further from the truth.

When Christians "disagree with sin", they often do it by despising and hating people who, through no ill intent, are doing something we think to be sinful. Sometimes, a hundred years later, we realize we were wrong in the first place.

It's a fair cop.

I'm a witch, and I'd love to know what the heck it is that Christians dislike about us.

Well, for one thing, you wear too much silver, and you misquote Crowley! :p

Seriously, I think most of it comes down to a translation problem; there's a Biblical condemnation of something which was translated as "witchcraft", but which I think bears about as much resemblance to Wicca as Harry Potter does.

I have met some Wiccans who seemed like arrogant jerks, but I doubt Christianity will get far claiming the moral high ground on *that* issue.

Anyway, *I* don't hate you. I might well believe you're incorrect about certain cosmological questions, but so what? Everyone's wrong about cosmology, it's too big for us to understand.

"Quick to judge,
Quick to anger,
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand."

Several times you've mentioned the word 'sin' among your replies. I realize that that's what your bible says, but a true Wiccan would never do anything to hurt a person. It's against our Rede (the equivalent of your bible, sort of).

Nonsense! That's like saying a "true Christian" would never do anything to hurt someone. We can, and we do. Maybe we repent, maybe we're sorry, but we *DO* hurt people. I mean, look back three sentences; I just called something you told me about your faith "Nonsense". The only reason I'm leaving it there is to prove my point, now - but is that a sincere desire to show you the truth of my position, or pride, or a secret desire to insult you? I don't know!

Keep in mind, "hurts people" isn't the only kind of sin; there's also "hurts God". There's also "hurts people out of ignorance, or unintentionally". There's "doesn't do enough to help other people". There's *LOTS* of sins, and I've heard of only one person who *didn't* sin, and a lot of people think He was a myth.

So far as it goes, I don't really object to the Wiccan Rede - but I'm not convinced that it solves all the problems, and I think your cosmology may be in error. But so what? Most of the Wiccans I know are good people, and frankly, I think the only viable path for apologetics to Wiccans is to start by apologizing, because members of our faith have treated you pretty badly in the past.

Well, Blondie, the Christians that fall into the "hatred of Wicca" notion tend to broadly fall into one of three categories.

1. People who rabidly hate anything different from themselves, anyhow. You can see this exemplified by the Jack Chick haters of Wicca, Roman Catholicism, people who don't use the KJV version of the Bible, etc. etc.

2. People who are ignorant of what Wicca is, but have read a Chick tract or some other very hateful POV from someone claiming to be a Christian, and thus make "hateful" statements without knowing it's wrong.

3. Theological conservatives who sincerely believe anyone who disagrees with conservative Christianity is going to hell, thus feeling the need to make "hateful" statements about other religions (at least, from our perspective).

Of course, people can be blends of 1, 2, & 3 in varying proportions, but I think that covers most of the Christian haters of Wicca/Paganism.

I would agree. Not all christians hate Wiccas.

However, there are many "christians" who use their religion as an excuse to hate and belittle other people.
Im not wiccan but I like to wear a pentacle (and like the pentacle anyway :) ) and I have had my share of run ins with hatefull christians. However, I dont take them to represent their entire religion.

i don't know what wiccans are, i am talking about witches

The problem is that the word "witch" refers to a bunch of different and mostly unrelated thing. Wicca is a religion whose practitioners call themselves "witches", and sound totally unlike what you describe. Since I've never heard of anything like what you described, I was curious as to where you live; it may be that other parts of the world have different religions in them.

Hello, the bible also condemns people with leprosy and jewish people, so are you against them too?
the Bible isn't against Jewish people.  it doesn't say that, and it never would.  the Jews were set apart for God...
kinda like...they were chosen or whatever.  i'm not sure if i'm using the right words, but the Bible doesn't teach hatred of Jews.

as for the lepers....Jesus healed a leper, so Jesus (or the Bible) does not teach to condemn them or neglect them.  Jesus even touched a leper when healing one (which no one else would ever do).

so...no, i'm not against them.
