I too am interested in what "the mass grave of bones" is regarding the dinosaurs.
I have learned that there are many many mass graves where dinos fell in death, at many different layers of the earths surface.

Here's a good twist on this subject for you all.
Are we the only advanced lifeforms in the universe? Do we all agree that the universe is massive and does indeed exist as science says it does? Is the universe itself evolving? Is the universe supposed to be taken literally or as a dimensional allegory for something much bigger?

I know this is about "hating evolution" whatever that means.

I had to ask something...this debate has gone on for 280 posts and things are being reiterated over and over again.

Science and Religion

The Catholic Church has always taught that "no real disagreement can exist between the theologian and the scientist provided each keeps within his own limits. . . . If nevertheless there is a disagreement . . . it should be remembered that the sacred writers, or more truly ‘the Spirit of God who spoke through them, did not wish to teach men such truths (as the inner structure of visible objects) which do not help anyone to salvation’; and that, for this reason, rather than trying to provide a scientific exposition of nature, they sometimes describe and treat these matters either in a somewhat figurative language or as the common manner of speech those times required, and indeed still requires nowadays in everyday life, even amongst most learned people" (Leo XIII, Providentissimus Deus 18).

I am NOT Catholic (so I post this here as something I probably could not articulate as well and NOT TO PROMOTE Cathoicism, so get that in your heads before someone cries about it) yet I 100% agree with this.

for me.. that is entering ambiguity..cant trust it.it is open to any interpretation.leads to being tossed to and fro.
to be a believer in God one must first acknowledge that he "Is" and then believe him.
it sounds judgmental,i must bear that,but we either belive God and trust him....Or...we lean on our own understanding.

one leads to error..

God's Word Is COMPLETELY true

Evolution is at least partly true

The conventions of this world will pass away. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
All scientific things are below God. Science gives us technologies and other things beneficial in this world, but this version of the world will pass. I say invest in the heavenly kingdom, and let things be revealed as they should.

If a believer has a theory that God used the dust of the Earth and through time from ape to man he created man... I would look at him with a bit of puzzlement. So long as he did not renounce Genesis or any other scripture and that in his heart was the realization of human fallibility, then I don't see it as a necessarily damnable heresy.

Saying in absolute terms "GOD did it this way", it would be safer to remain silent I think. We must be careful what we attribute to God.

I think the safer answer would be

"There is SOME truth behind the science of evolution, that science is part of God's creation, but to what extent I dare not venture to attribute to God, for God knows his creation perfectly and we humans are better off believing in What He says, rather than believing in what someone else says."

Science is a helpful tool, just keep it a tool and Make God your ultimate focus!

Except its safe to say that God created the world in 6 days. That is what we know for sure.

However, there might be some details left out. Details like perhaps(guesses for the sake of showing that full ET or Old Earth might not be entirely contradictory to the bible) time dilation/shift, evolution introduced after the fall in both directions of time, time variations speed increase, decrease. secret things of God. etc.

We know that God didn't have men living to be nearly a thousand years old at some point in time.
Did he simply adjust the telomeres so that men wouldn't live as long? Perhaps a time adjustment? Maybe this stuff will be revealed in heaven.

What was the author of genesis relating days to? was it to rotation of the earth? when it became night and day? Was the earth spinning faster or slower? I think you can see where I am going with this.

Good post! I haven't read the whole context of the discussion but this comment is spot on regardless of the discussion.

Jesus quoted Genesis making reference to A&E. The difference is important.

When I quote the Boy who Cried Wolf - I'm not implying he is literal. Please confirm you understand the difference. I elaborated this in my post earlier which has gone unaddressed.

This shows a fundamental ignorance of both Scripture and sound theology. Jesus IS God! He is the Word that was with God and was God as explained by John. He became flesh (Jesus) to die for us. Therefore any reference He makes to creation is from the perspective of the one who was there!

I didn't say they did. I'm pointing out that BECAUSE Jesus is God, anything He speaks on is from the point of view of the Creator.
