  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There has been much effort expended by the Right to discredit the Mueller investigation. Trump, and his henchmen and cheerleaders are working very hard at it. The principle strategy seems to be to paint the Mueller investigation as "all about Trump," to represent it as nothing but an attack by the Left on the President himself.

Since the primary charge to Mueller and his team was to investigate possible meddling by the Russians in the 2016 elections as well as possible involvement in it by US citizens--not to "get Trump"--one can only assume that this misdirection is intentional, designed to discredit Mueller before his attempts to reveal the facts about Russian meddling can succeed.

In the end, Mueller will undoubtedly not "get Trump." I don't think there's anything to get by way of collusion. The man clearly has a reprehensible personal life, but no intelligent Russian would “collude” directly with such a loose cannon. However, if the Right succeeds with their propaganda campaign, Mueller's investigation will be reduced to a shambles and the Russians will be safe. Clearly this is the Right's goal, regardless of whether there was collusion with the Russians by US citizens or not.

It's the Russian meddling the Right is trying to protect, not Trump.

How can anyone be trying to protect a figment of the imagination, a fairy tale?

Mueller has thoroughly discredited himself, bringing indictments against foreigners and Manafort, which even the judge laughed at. Did you read the remarks of the judge?

Actually, we don't know the scope of the investigation yet.

It was all over the media for I don't know how long it was Trump's campaign and the Russian collusion, etc. They don't push that as much anymore, but it still comes up. lol (snickers) I guess everyone likes the 'get Trump' idea! Yes, both have been hyper venting over something that isn't even clear yet.

That is what we were told at the beginning, and I don't want the Russians anywhere near my elections.

Now, according to what went down in the last court hearing it seems the scope has changed. We still don't clearly what it is. People have been speculating forever now. I'm sure they will continue to speculate too. Trump's personal life aside - he no doubt has some skeletons in his closet! Although, I'm sure he will fit in there somewhere with someone's theory. I think both sides are getting ridiculous myself.

I think we have propaganda all over the place, and from every direction. It's called news today. It's rather sad.

Just exactly what could Mueller do to make the Russians unsafe?

Talk about spin.
The time, energy, and money that has been expended to bring Trump down is truly staggering. And this OP is another example of how the media and Establishment elites have created an imaginary Trump (which even Christians have accepted) because he decided to challenge the Establishment and all its corruption. Every citizen should have rejoiced, but instead many have become crybabies and snowflakes.

It is almost unbelievable that a duly elected President of the USA is being attacked daily from all sides, even while he is doing an OUTSTANDING JOB and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Canada and the Western world needs men like Trump, not self-serving politicians catering to Jihadists.

When you put it like that, it seems oddly familiar.

In what way? If your are suggesting that Obama did an outstanding job, then Trump would not be having to clean up the corruption and mess he left behind. And if you are suggesting that Obama deserved to receive that Nobel prize, I believe even the people who awarded it had second thoughts about their blunder.

So we are being fobbed off with a lurid scandal about a porn star and possibly some obscure technical violation of campaign finance laws. Sure, there are Dems who are drooling over it, fools, but it won't hurt Trump with his base--it's just a gaudy show, smoke and mirrors to fool the rubes, and make Mueller look petty and vindictive. Meanwhile, the Russian pickpocket has come up behind you and lifted your wallet.

That is what we were told at the beginning, and I don't want the Russians anywhere near my elections.
Neither do I, but the GOP is down with it and has made sure to do nothing to keep it from happening again.

Any money spent to dethrone Trump is an investment in America, IMHO.

What he was supposed to do was develop hard evidence of what they did, as a step in the direction of preventing them from doing it again.

But the Right started this "It's all about Trump" show, and the stupid Dems followed right along, "Duh, yeah, it's all about Trump."

And he found them *entertaining*!

What does that tell you? This whole thing is a farce, the emperor has no clothes, but the media (MSM) refuse to inform the public about the true state of affairs.

So Russian interference in our election is a figment of the imagination? A fairy tale?

Yes. Russian meddling in the election campaign and in the political atmosphere before and after the election is no fairly tale but interference in the election is. It may seem a fine point but fine points are important. The election itself was held on time and in the manner past elections have been held . Nothing interfered with it. As President Obama assured us beforehand, no one, Russian or otherwise, is capable of doing anything to upset the voting process.

The pickpocket did not even have to do that. Hillary Clinton not only handed over the wallet, she actually handed over the bank. The Uranium deal has been carefully swept under the rug, since the collusion was on the part of Clinton, not Trump. Mueller should have been going after her, but he is just another Democrat party hack.

It's Mueller's resume that discredits himself. And the point is that none of the findings are about Trump. The only thing that's going on is that the investigation is detracting from the president to focus on his job. Also to distract from what good he's actually doing.
Special prosecutors are supposed to investigate a crime. There has been no crime specified, therefore it's a witch hunt.
In the end, Mueller will undoubtedly not "get Trump." I don't think there's anything to get by way of collusion. The man clearly has a reprehensible personal life, but no intelligent Russian would “collude” directly with such a loose cannon. Personal life notwithstanding (Bill Clinton's personal life, anyone?), the collusion, if any, was by the Clinton campaign with the Ukraine, and anyone else who wanted to buy influence.
It's the Russian meddling the Right is trying to protect, not Trump.
Well, President Obama said it best...to paraphrase, it's impossible for a foreign government to rig our election.
People don't like President Trump because he's getting stuff done in a business-like manner. Right and left alike.
