I’ll second that. Although I was a bit displeased that by having beliefs that do not conform to the sites official definition of what a “Christian” is, I am now limited in the places that I’m able to post, but… * shrugs *

I started posting here because I had already started posting on an atheist forum after I just started really believing in God again.

Anyway, belief has always been hard for me (and I found I was losing it with just the infidels) but I have always had what I would call faith.

Wierd? Yes. But, I named myself after a mountain bike so what do you want ;)

My friend recommended it to me. I guess I wanted to help with my faith because I don't get to go to church that much, and I must admit I was interested in the site and meeting people from all over the world! It's been awesome, I am so hooked and I wouldn't give it up for anything. Well, almost anything... :)

I discovered and became addicted to forums at a site called crosswalk.com. However, I became increasingly frustrated at the (imo) concentration of calvinists ideas and went looking for site with more varied opinions, yet still Christian.

I was on another list where the members kept talking about this CF website and all the outrageous posts in the various forums. Finally one day someone wrote out the complete Christian Forums instead of just CF. I did a search and found out what the buzz was all about.

I figured that liberal voices weren't heard nearly enough around here and so... voila... here I am.

I used to pretty much keep my beliefs to myself. One day I got into a heated discussion about eternal torment in hell and became very frustrated. I thought I would go and seek some more answers. I joined another forum and asked a question about christianity without hell. It seemed that everyone who responded was a fundie and tried to beat me over the head with bible verses without even considering what my objection was. I asked questions for a couple of days, pointed out some logic problems and then out of the blue was banned from the site, no warning, no explanation just cut out like a cancer.

So anyway I did a search that lead me here and I was very pleased to see that there are all sorts of posters with various views, some like my own and many who are different. It is very interesting and I have learned quite a bit here in a short while.

I've always been a bit of a 'forum junkie' to pass idle time :) Eventually I started reading the Catholic Answers forums over at Catholic.com but just didn't feel too comfortable posting there. Some of the people there referenced CF though and after popping in here to check it out I decided to stick around.

What I liked originally was that CF is not just limited to one particular faith ... or even to faith at all in this area. The idea of hearing various beliefs and thoughts and learning something new really appealed to me.

What i've come to find since then is that the basic truth of all internet forums holds true for CF also. That here on the internet, with complete anonymity and a wide audience people are vastly more likely to not just say what they truly think but to say it in the most unequivocal terms. CF is Christianity without the in-person smile. It's where people really state what they actually believe because there will be no real-life consequences for saying it here.

You'll almost never see anyone in a church behave the way they do here, but you can be certain that what you see here is just beneath the surface of most.

Here on CF i'm exposed to ideas i'd never before considered and if i'm not certain about something there's likely a thread on it already. OtAMS in particular really gives me a lot to think about daily :)

I used to be pagan and I posted and modded a pagan forum...it was highly addictive but I felt I could no longer be there after becoming Christian. So I looked for another forum to be part of...CF scared me away at first because it's so huge but I decided to give it a go eventually.

i started actually because it was such a big forum that i could find many areas to talk about, and just not with specific status quo person.

I was a veteran member of another forum that seemed all of a sudden to bash christianity and morality of anykind. Had to quit, even if I did not participate, just being a part of it was wrong.

I came here by recommendation from a friend who posted on another forum with me. I came to meet people who could help me regain my dwindling faith.
I have found that some here have elevated me and helped me to find my spiritual path with God, but also with the positive there is also the negative.
I never realised there were so many denominations here, now that amazed me.:)
