For me it was because I made too much of a mess that I couldn't clean up by myself,.. so when Jesus rang my doorbell and was standing there right in front of me with a mop and a broomstick in His hands what could I do but let Him in? :D

Around the age of 25 years old, there was just a void in life that was needing to be filled. It was around November, watching sermons and listening to what people had to say on some chat forums, and voice chats.

The need to find out more about who Jesus Christ was settled in my heart that my mind was going to find out the truth about who is the Lord, because He was not someone that was fully understood in my mind, until finally reading on my own, with prayer and asking God for help, and to help me along the way.

It was not an overnight transformation it took a few years to even get to the point that has been achieved now in my life which has brought me into a state of having more patience, and to be forgiving to everyone, and to pray for everyone.

God also had placed a teacher who helped me in my learning more about the word as well, which impacted my life a lot for the better.

For me it was very similar.
Mine was a three step process.
When I was a teen-ager in High School I can remember thinking that I knew, believed in, and accepted God, but this Jesus I didn't know what to do with.

I acknowledged trying ever so hard to follow the 10 Commandments week by week. I could get through 3 weeks just fine, but on that fourth week something would trip me up, and I would fail again.
I felt badly about it, but I felt worse about having to ask Jesus to clean up my mess. So for years I just kept on trying to be perfect.

Later, when I was in my 20's a good minister asked me point blank when I was going to stop trying to be perfect, and acknowledge that I needed Jesus' help in the matter. That hit me right in my heart, and I acknowledged that pride was what kept me from asking for His help.

When i was 16 my life was a mess and good Christian friends helped me understand i needed Christ in my life. i asked Him into my heart then. However suffering from evil voice caused me to loose my faith in Him for many years while i was in and out of hospital fighting my demons on my own.

However in the end i learned to understand through suffering so much bad life that Jesus was the very best King i could serve and that He truly was my Lord and Saviour if i heeded His word instead of my voices. Since that day my life has improved enormously and have been able to stay on top of my mental illness much better. All praise to Jesus.

Because God chose me, through no virtue or worth of my own. My decision was a result of his. "We love him, because he first loved us."

I grew up Christian but backslid as a teenager.I played church for a while, worshipping
God at church and pretending to be a christian, till one night at 22 yrs old hearing a sermon at youth group about heaven and hell. The altar call was for anyone who wanted to be saved for the first time
or perhaps was playing church. Its as if the youth leader was speaking right to me.I went up to the altar
crying my eyes out in complete repentance and havent looked back since.

My daddy once told me, "Some people just come to know the Lord. They don't know a particular turning point, or moment when they first were not, then they were, Christians. They pretty much live their lives

I grew up in a Christian family but never really experienced a relationship with Jesus or anything. I believed there to be a God but I didn't make Him the foundation of my life. At the age of 16 I had to decide to either obey this God my parents had told me about or to follow my own desires, so I used my interest in science to figure out whether my parents had taught me the correct world-view or not.
You could say I only really started being interested in God when I figured out that He is indeed real and that the Bible is historically accurate.
To me Christian faith is not necessarily believing something invisible. Christian faith means to fully trust the person of Jesus Christ who was a visible person both before and after his resurrection.

For me, a somewhat nominal Christian path seemed expected so I went through the church motions until I started seeing evidence there was something out there beyond my basic 5 senses. I'm glad you mentioned the mess situation. It reminds me of how much lighter it felt to have Jesus come in and take that terrible burden of unforgiven sins at the onset. I forgot that part but it was momentous. I did not even realize how heavy my sins truly were until salvation. Great reminder!!!!

Thanks for sharing. I find it fascinating what attracts each of us to the Lord. Plenty of people talk about approaching the Bible or Christianity from a scientific angle. Others are drawn to the Lord from a more spiritual angle. There may be other categories like desperation/pain motivations or a combination of categories. I wonder if there are books on the subject and if our personalities or life situations dictate how we step towards the Lord? Sorry if I got off topic. Thanks again.

God knows everyone of us in detail, I'm sure He'll meet us in a way that fits our personality and our life situation :) Everyone got a unique life to live and God's appearance in it is just as unique.
There is books about almost anything, though I can't name any, lol. It would probably be like testimonies of people who experienced an encounter with God.

Thanks. I agree books on testimonies would be a great place to start. Amen to the how God reaches us. He is all about customization. Gotta love Him!

I think you've hit the nail on the head with that post.
Our Priest today was talking bout how God knew each of us individually as He created us.
So it definitely fits that He would also know both the "how", the "when", and the "where" of how to reach us most effectively.
I am so glad that is true!

I had a devastating event in my life that brought me so low I cried out to Him ... and He answered. Lifted me up out of a painful experience and have been walking with Him ever since. I was numb and dead inside, lost and broken and He lifted me up. Thank you Jesus! Amen.

Kind of like C.S. Lewis who went on to the bus an atheist and came off the bus a Christian
