Why did God gave us men so much more sex drive/lust?

"Apples get way more blemishes in their skins than oranges. I mean, just the other day I was checking out my skin, and dang, I've got blemishes all over it! Oranges are so lucky that they don't have to deal with that. They barely even have skin!"

"Uh, earth to apple? We oranges have PEELS, and let me tell you, it only takes a short time before we're covered in soft spots. How would you like it if we made your life sound like a cakewalk for not having to deal with peel-related problems?"

BTW, I would like to look up statistics sometime soon about female masturbation because I can't remember where I saw it, but I recently saw somewhere that something like 8 out of 10 females admit that they touch. It is probably more common than many of guys realize.

Yeah, it is. Because, it's not "feminine", it's not "appropriate", etc. So it's hidden more because of the stigma that women don't have sex drives and don't desire sex.

Well, reading through some of the posts, it seems most have hit on my thoughts on this.

Mainly, I don't think men have more a drive, it just manifests it in different ways. One thought too, I know women that would appear to have incredible sex drives that some men would envy, but it's because of the differences in male and female sexuality.

We can thank the Victorians for that. The thing is that a lot of women and men believe that because that's what they've been taught. That attitude is still around today.

Exactly. :( It's sad, it encourages a lot more secret-keeping and a lot more self-hatred. :(

Well, sure, but my point is that the temptation for a woman is to act or dress in a seductive way. Maybe only 1% would actually allow pornographic pictures/videos to be taken of her, but in general many women struggle with the desire to dress or act in a way that would seduce a man sexually. I don't know of many Christian women who would actually be involved in the porn industry, but I know plenty of them who dress inappropriately and shell out thousands of dollars for boob jobs.

BTW, I would like to look up statistics sometime soon about female masturbation because I can't remember where I saw it, but I recently saw somewhere that something like 8 out of 10 females admit that they touch. It is probably more common than many of guys realize.

I don't deny that women are more dependent on the emotional aspect of sex than men are. I believe that's true for the most part. However, it is not strictly emotional. A woman can enjoy a sexual act from strictly a physical sense, otherwise, like overit mentioned, there wouldn't be such a market for vibrators and other female sex toys.

I have read different numbers on it, one research saying 40% of the females does it, an other saying 80% like you state. It's hard to do this kind of research of course, because very few dare admit it, even to a piece of paper that says "anonymous".

Still, i can guarantee you that for men it's 99% without needing any research and more frequently than for women as well.

I think some very good points were raised in this thread and i can understand them, but i still believe that because men don't need the emotional attachment for a sexual desire, that their sex drive ultimately is higher.

Women not having sex drives was western medical science dogma from about 400 bc (Hypocrates) to just after 1900. Suddenly, doctors found out women actually had a drive and could [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]. (previously they called that reaction a "paroxym," which was related to the medical diagnosis of hysteria) Women were told the only cure for hysteria (now we call it being horny) was a medical procedure done by either a doctor or a midwife.

Besides that, since the organs involved are not as external as the male parts, rubbing them for relief was not as obvious as it is in men. And once it was discovered that hysteria was REALLY a sex desire, the already prudish ideas of Victorianism (very anti-sex) started being aimed at women too.

But since the early 1900s, more and more women are finding their drives. And with the slow demise of Victorian prudery, they are finding relief thru self stimulation as well. So the numbers have been steadily rising over the last 50-60 years. I remember in the 1970s they said that it was about 1 in 4. Then in the 1980s it was about half. In the 90s it was up to about 70-80%. It is probably pretty close to the 95% number for guys by now.

IMO this is a VERY good thing.

ETA: I recently read in a news-type article on porn that they had gotten some statistics from a porn web site that asks you your gender and orientation before you look at their stuff. They said by a wide margin (don't recall the exact numbers) that the biggest group that watched male/male gay porn was straight women. It was way over half.

But the bible certainly seems much more interested in female sexual satisfaction than male. It is only in 1 Cor 7 where male satisfaction is given any credence. But even as far back as Exodus, we are told that if a guy takes a 2nd wife in addition to a SLAVE wife, he cannot reduce her (the slave's) amount of sex. And the bible book entirely devoted to sex - Song of Solomon - has all kinds of sexual pleasure for her of various kinds: Intercourse, oral, manual, masturbation. The guy is given a little but not much.
