  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you believe in Zeus? Why not?
It's same reason atheists don't believe in christ.

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

I have a question, How can someone not belive in Christ?

How can someone not believe in Muhammad?
How can someone not believe in L. Ron Hubbard?
How can someone not believe in Buddha?

Christ is just one more to add to the list.

Its very simple

Do you believe in Krishna? Do you believe in The Morrigan? Do you belive in Isis?

I'm guessing not with your Christian faith icon.

This world is very diverse--therefore it is quite easy for some people not to believe the same way.

The world would be quite boring if everyone thought the same way. Not to mention that everyone sees "truth" (religious truth) in different ways. Not everyone is going to believe your "truth". Some do not even believe Christ exsisted, so why the question of "how can you not believe in Christ"?

So your point is moot.

Also, your question lead to other questions.
What do you mean with "believe"? There are more than a few history scholars - atheists or from every religion under the sun - who believe that a Yeshua ben Youssef, an unorthodox (most probable hipotesis now is that He Belonged to the Nazarine Sect of Judaism ) and liberal Jewish rabi, lived on Palestine in the begining of the First Century.
Is that what you ment by your question? What do you mean with "believe"?

Or your question was "How can someone not belive in Christ, as He Is Teached by the protestant/orthodox/pentecostal theology?"

I don't believe in Christ because most of the people who say they believe in Christ don't behave in very Christ-like ways.

The ones that do behave and act in Christ-like ways made be believe there are still good people on this earth, but it still isn't good evidence that Christ exists.

its not so hard to belive in Christ

What's so hard about believing in Buddha or Krishna or any of the other deities worshipped in the world?

Here is an easy task: think of something you don't believe in, be it werewolves or vampires or astral bodies or whatever, and think about why you don't believe in these things. Then report back to us.

floradora did you actually read any of the replies before writing "its not so hard to believe in Christ"? if you're a blind(i mean literally) believer with a mute typist posting for you i apologise, otherwise there isnt really an excuse for typing your quote as an arguement.

i do love that Stephen Roberts quote, its very powerful and thought provoking but for some reason ppl dont seem to get the point..

God the Father is God.
God the Spirit is God.
Jesus is God.
But there is only one God.

He's one AND three.
(He's a dessert topping AND a floor wax...)
It makes no sense.

God put a temptation, and the devil, in the Garden of Eden.
It is explained, "He wanted to give us a choice."
So, one would have to assume that there is a tempter and a sin that would kick you out of Heaven, because giving us a choice is so important. If not, then why have the choice in the first place??

Jesus died for sins, because God commanded it, to forgive us.
God demanded death of Jesus to make up for our minor sins?
It's a bit extreme.
I don't demand that I kill my child, let alone my dog, to make things good with my neighbor.
The sacrifice makes little sense.

I am told that Jesus died for the sins of the world, and is my Savior, unless I don't accept him, and then his sacrifice meant nothing.
Either he is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world, or he's not. Make up your mind.

Christians celebrate Christmas far more than Easter, although Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus, is far more interesting that Jesus simply lying in a manger. What gives?

So, why is it hard for me to believe?
It doesn't make sense.

It's hard for me to believe that Genesh was beheaded, and had an Elephants head transplanted onto his body to live as much as it is hard for me to believe a spotlight from the sky shown down millions of miles away on a stable, that Jesus walked on water, that an ass spoke, or that a serpent walked around the garden and spoke to Eve, and while it is said to be Satan in disguise, God punished serpents themselves.

Illogical.
