I guess I didn't even stop to think it could turn into another argument.
Correct.Actually there is but ONE TRUTH and that is GODS TRUTH not my truth not your truth
What this forum is lacking is love,
ReallyI guess I didn't even stop to think it could turn into another argument.
ReallyHow long have you been in this forum?
I know, it's sad...
Unpopular as this statement may be, you've hit the nail on the head, Jas.
Prepare to be called a compromiser, among other disparaging names...
There is this thing called "tact" that many people can use a lot more of.
Tic-Tact-Toe, it's a game that is impossible to ever win.TACT! It's an amazing concept!
This was the major reason why I stepped down from moderating also. You get burned out from it.You know it is interesting to see the way people treat each other here. One of the reasons I stepped down from moderating this forum was because I got tired of the constant abuse that both sides of the debate caused for the other side. I tried to stand in the gap, to be the peacemaker as much as I could be, standing for WoF and non-WoF alike, and I simply got tired of it.
There is a way people can present their differences of opinion without resorting to over generalization, baiting, flaming, or any other negative debate tactics. The only problem is that several members only seem intent on bashing those who disagree with them (this goes for certain members on both sides of the fence).
There is this thing called "tact" that many people can use a lot more of. I disagree with WoF teachings, and also believe many of them to be false, yet I have had several wonderful discussions with WoF members, such as Pete and Balance, and have been able to adequately express my point of view without insulting them or other WoF members.
Sure, some of the more extreme WoF members take things out of context and would choose to be offended, but the same thing happens with anti-WoF members taking WoF things out of context and becoming offended. The problem here isn't in what was said, but the attitude of those who read what was said.
What this forum is lacking is love, which is one of the most important fruits of the Spirit. Yes, someone might argue that they are being so tactless in the name of love, trying to "correct a false teaching" but the truth is it isn't very loving, and after a while, it takes a toll.
I will never fully agree with WoF teachings, but that doesn't mean I can't call those who believe the WoF teachings Brothers and Sisters in Christ. That is what they are, after all. WoF is not a cult, I just believe the teachings are a little misplaced. They would believe the same about the teachings I agree with. When Christ returns it won't matter anymore, because we'll all be rejoicing with Him in Glory.
And don't leave out the hurt and distruction which comes from vanity and pride of thinking that God CHOSE to heal one of yours from disease and death because He must have a "destiny" for them to achieve, but the other two in the same room died (because obviously God must NOT have a destiny for them or a desire to see them healed and wanted them to die?Yet we as christians seem to say its ok just be quiet dont say anything just compromise with what we know is error which will lead our brothers and sisters to hurt and great suffering.
And the hurt and distruction which comes from vanity and pride if you are healthy or if you are rich after all its all because you had the right amount of faith.
Accept for the obvious rudeness, why is debate, now called bashing??? pinetree
Because what goes on most of the time is odviously rudeness, under the guise of debate. No one here has a problem with debate as long as fairness and love is applied. But most of the time fairness and love is not applied.Accept for the obvious rudeness, why is debate, now called bashing??? pinetree
I absolutely agree with your post. I find myself agreeing with you on this topic more and more. Scary...Why can't we all get along?
Because we're full of pride and most of us don't really care about the Truth. We only care about pointing out flaws in others and proving that we're right and they're wrong.
Even some of the people who preach about love will, in the very same post, turn around and get their jab in. In essence they say: "We should all love one another. You aren't being loving, I am." I've done it too.
Right now I'm to place where I figure that most of the "lovingness" around here is a sham anyway. If we have to say we're being loving, then it's probably not true.
I kind of prefer the nastiness to the fake love. At least it's real. It seems to me that some of the preaching about love has just become one more attempt to silence disagreement and to control the behavior of others - something that not only can't be done but is also wrong to attempt.
JMHO. (And I am not trying to single out any one person here, nor is this as much of a response to the OP as it is something that has been growing in me in the last few months, in response to numerous posts and threads and attitudes I have encountered.)

But seriously...
You know, as I continue to grow and learn about Love, real Love, I see more and more flaws in MYSELF that I desire to correct. I think if everyone of us would just stop pointing the finger at everyone else who we can not change for a moment and start taking a look at ourselves who we CAN change, this forum would be a totally different place...
So many of us disagree on so many things.
So many times we go beyond disagreeing, and we bash our brothers and sisters in Christ. Are you guys like this in your churches and the real world? I doubt it!
I'm not word of faith, I disagree with a few word of faith ideas. BUT, I would never think of word of faithers as cultists or as non Christian.
Truth is, a person who was my spiritual father for a time in my life was word of faith, and he was a huge blessing. An associate pastor at the Assembly of God I used to attend was word of faith, and he is an amazing Christian. I've met so many wonderful word of faithers in my life.
Maybe part of the problem for some is that you need to visit some word of faith churches. You will most likely not agree with some of the doctrines, but you will at least soften up on how severely critical you are.
You will realize word of faith believers are true Christians and love Jesus, just like you do!
Yes, I couldn't agree more. People not only should be honest and not put up a front of love but people need to honestly listen to those who have major problems with what you might believe. Why can't we all get along?
