I made a commitment 5 months ago to Jesus but since I am back in Germany there is nothing spiritually anymore in my heart.
I want to live a holy life, I know how to do that. But somehow I can't...

You might say: he's christian if he made a commitment. No, the only thing I know is that Jesus is real. But there is nothing else I can do. I keep on sinning.

why don't I receive the power of Jesus everybody talks about?

I am scared too to pray to Jesus, because I fear he might not want to hear my prayer. I am just too far away from him.

There is no church around me, my family does not know that Jesus existed, and my friends don't care either.

I will not stop wanting to live a holy life, but will somebody please pray to Jesus not to be to angry with me and for what I have done is unaccaptable. And I don't want to say sorry and repent my sin and do the same thing everyday again.

thanks

"All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day." - John 6:37-39

You know that Jesus is real, do you believe what He did on the cross was real? That it can take away your past, present, and future sins? Have you asked Him to apply that sacrifice to you and to forgive your sins? Have you asked Him to give you the Holy Spirit?

If you can honestly say "yes" to all of these questions, you are a Christian whether you feel it or not. Pray to Him because He wants to hear your prayers. You want to get closer to Him, and he sees that. God wants you with Him, He will not give you up. He paid too heavy a price for that. So pray to Him and be honest, not afraid. Ask Him to send other believers into your life who read and believe the Bible. I believe He will honor that.

It took me a few years to see the power of Jesus in my life - and that was just with one problem. True, there were answered prayers during that time of my life, but I had a big problem in my spiritual walk, namely security. Satan took advantage, lied to me pretty good, and had me in a pathetic state. It took about two years from that time to get me solid - solid to the point that I have absolutely no fear of God letting me go or condemning me. Two years, plus a good number of year before the crisis I mentioned while the problem festered, that is a long time. It was a hard road, but I finally got it.

I am not perfect. I am far from perfect. I have problems in various areas of my life, sometimes I see that I am not far off from becoming a criminal. I see that sin in my heart, I know that isn't right, and I return to God. That's His power right there, showing me what sin is and does. That is Him with me right there, telling me that this sin is totally inconsistent with who I am and ought to be. He is with us in our individual choices, providing ways out of sin (1 Cor 10:13), giving us the opportunity to destroy walls of sin, brick by brick. Sometimes He does blow the whole thing away in one shot, but that is rare. God gives us a huge gun to deal with sin in our lives, but we have to pull the trigger.

Hello Mo_HH_ljc,

And I don't want to say sorry and repent my sin and do the same thing everyday again.
I know how you feel; I have often felt the same way. I don't feel like I am a great authority on the Bible, Theology, or anything like that, but I do know Jesus (and keep trying to know Him better) and what I've found when I am going through something like this is that I can't do it on my own. I think I'll knuckle down I use my own willpower to not sin, but you know what? It never works. I have to let Him help me. And that's a day by day moment by moment thing. The thing that helps me most is to TALK to Him throughout the day! God is there for you all the time and not just when you're reading the Bible or at church (or on your knees in prayer; you can have a conversation with Him anytime and anywhere!). But reading the Bible is another thing that helps me SO much. Because that is the way I listen to Him! There are other ways He can speak to us, but the Bible is His word to us and the main way He speaks to us. It says: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." -1 John 1:9. If you tell Him your sins, tell Him you need Him and ask Him to forgive you He will! I don't always feel forgiven right away, but Jesus does not lie, and even if I don't FEEL forgiven in that instant, I KNOW I am. Please don't feel afraid to talk to Jesus; that He won't want to hear you is Satan's lie. Tell Him what you are feeling (or not feeling) and let Him help you through it. We can never be perfect and live without any sin on this earth, but if we ask Jesus to forgive us and come into our lives He will help change us from the inside out until He comes to get us and take us home!

I will be praying for you, Mo_HH_ljc and you also but'n'ben. :)

Jesus is real. You keep sinning? welcome to the club, we all sin. We will sin until we are raptured or physical death. Then the struggle will end. Every Christian and I mean everyone of us struggle, this is how we know we are Christians.

why don't I receive the power of Jesus everybody talks about?

Do you know how to overcome sin? check out 1 John 1:9. It is awesome. use it.

I am scared too to pray to Jesus, because I fear he might not want to hear my prayer. I am just too far away from him.

The protocol is to pray to God the Father, We follow Jesus Christ's example.

There is no church around me, my family does not know that Jesus existed, and my friends don't care either.

Sounds like the Lord has you in the desert

If you are a Christian, you are set apart, or holy already, you can not get any more holy. But you can get mature, the object of any Christian is to become a mature believer. Get with a ministry that provides Bible study on CD's or MP3's and learn how to deal with the wonderful things God has given you. I may seem harsh, but you need to look at God's plan for yor life. and it is wonderful.

The Christian life is not easy. In fact, I think in many ways it gets harder when one becomes a christian. Let me deal with all parts of your post

I made a commitment 5 months ago to Jesus but since I am back in Germany there is nothing spiritually anymore in my heart.

It is a process. You might not feel anything now, but that doesn't change the fact that you have a God-shaped hole inside you that only He can fill. Don't give up when you feel nothing, just keep seeking. It says in Hebrews 11:66 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
Seek God with all your heart, and you will find him. See also Jeremiah 29:11-13
I want to live a holy life, I know how to do that. But somehow I can't...
You might say: he's christian if he made a commitment. No, the only thing I know is that Jesus is real. But there is nothing else I can do. I keep on sinning.

No one ever does that perfectly. I have been a believer since I was 3, and I'm 21 now, but I still sin. Everyone does, and will, as Linden said, until we die, or until He comes again. Read Romans 7:7-25 This should answer this problem for you.

Why don't I receive the power of Jesus everybody talks about?

That thoroughly depends on the kind of power you are talking about. Instead of trying to guess, as there could be a couple of answers, I'd rather let you explain what you mean by "the power of Jesus". And what is everyone talking about?

I am scared too to pray to Jesus, because I fear he might not want to hear my prayer. I am just too far away from him.

The thing is, it says in Romans that no one is righteous, not even one. But it also says in Romans 5:8-9 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: Whie we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" We have all sinned, and none of us are worthy, but if God waited until we were "good enough" it never would have happened, because no one is righteous. So, Christ loves you personally so much, that even while you were a sinner, he died for you. He is not angry at you, and will not be. Fear is something that comes from Satan. Don't you find it interesting that very few people fear Satan is mad with them? I know he's mad at me, but that doesn't scare me. Satan and his demons will whisper lies in your ears (literally), and the only way to get rid of the lies is to tell the truth of scripture. That means you need to read your bible to learn the truth, or you can't counteract it. Don't be deafeatist and stop now, or you WILL be defeated. You have to do something. Besides, Jesus told us all to pray. Why, if he told us to pray, would he be mad if we obeyed him. I would think that would only happen if we DIDN'T obey him. So, obey him, and pray to the Father.

There is no church around me, my family does not know that Jesus existed, and my friends don't care either.

That is a very hard thing. I will be praying for you, but keep searching, and pray for God to put Christians in your life. He will do it, if you ask. See Matthew 6:7. Also, just keep praying for God to change the hearts of your family and friends.(But you have to pray to do that)

I will not stop wanting to live a holy life, but will somebody please pray to Jesus not to be to angry with me and for what I have done is unaccaptable. And I don't want to say sorry and repent my sin and do the same thing everyday again.

Sin is a reality. I will pray to Jesus for you, but I will not pray that he won't be angry with you, because he already isn't. I pray that God would place Godly Christians in your path to help you grow in your faith and love, and that you would continue to seek him in spite of fears and misgivings. Father, guide, guard, and protect him as he goes along his way. Keep himn in your care. Place a hedge of protection around him, and cover him with your spiritual armor, so that he can withstand the attacks of Satan and his demons. I ask that you give him your peace, and show him all truth. I ask that you also empower him to be amight man of faith, and walk in your love. Bless him, Father. I ask all of this in Jesus name.

Also, Light-bringer, it is a very scriptural thing to know what was confessed to believe(and in this case, a very relevant question). It says in Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth,"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved".

Mo_HH and but'n'ben - *IT'S SIMPLE* - God never says "make a commitment", he says you need to receive His Life - *then* you get the power of God, better than "sin"-

Acts :1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me . . .
:2:4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance . . . :39: For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

That means you and me. I got it in '86, and have never been bored, or unsatisfied or worried since !

Here's another short testimony:-
I was on chat last month and spoke to Josh, 15 from America.
He had seen TV-evangelists speak in tongues in front of the camera which is wrong and he saw no purpose to it, but he was intreagued.

I told Him it's God leading a person in prayer (God knows best), he asked how he goes about this, I told him to close his eyes (to stop distractions) and *expect* God to *do* what Acts describes. He said:-
"ok I'll give it a go, can you wait 5 minutes ?"
I said "Ok"
15 seconds later he typed "wow!"
and described the strange words coming from him.... he was amazed how easy it was... well of course he did as Jesus says:- "enter as a little child" !

He asked me to stay takling & answering questions, so I did.
I mentioned:-
John:7:37: In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. :38: He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

He said he had read that before but now appreciated it.

First off, I want to say GOD BLESS YOU for desiring to live that holy life.

Ummm, it's strange that you don't have a church in Germany. I don't know how it is over there, but it would really help if you can find a church or other Christian friends who are mature in the faith.

God gave us the body of Christ (church) I so I pray that God will lead you to his church so that you may learn to live that Godly life you long for. This is why God gave us the body of Christ, not because we want it, but because we need it. THe power of Jesus Christ is manifest through his church and through his people. It is the power of his love.

I hope that you are not discouraged, because you have not gotten an answer so quicky, but God is listening. He will NOT fail nor forsake you. Remember Jesus loves you. If he does not want to hear you, then he wouldn't have died for you. I mean how can Jesus Die for you, but not want to hear you? He longs to hear you. He loves you. He created you.

It is very hard not to sin when you are not involved with the body of Christ. It's like a child being left in the street. It will surely not survive.

Just wait on the Lord. I believe that God answers prayers. it's just in his time.

Be well and God will lead you. He will. I know he will.

"I am still confident of this: You will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 25:16

PS
Just curious, what is the Christian life in Germany? Is it like non-existent or is it popular there?

The thing that stands out in your letter is the fact that you said that you know how to live holy but you don't. The Bible says what a man thinketh so is he. So, if you think and act on the thought and actions of a sinner then a sinner is what you have become. But, the Word of God says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. You should not fear repenting and prayer to God but you should fear sin, because when sin is finished it bringeth forth death. The thing about sin is their is no greater or lesser sin that cannot be repented of and God knows the heart. But, if you have decided in your heart that you will not cease from committing this sin what ever this sin or sins are then there is no more covering for your sins. If you do decide freely of com to Jesus and repent in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and you want him to be Lord of your life then you will receive the power that you need to resist sin, any sin. There is still time as long as you are living there is still time. If Jesus died for murderers and drug addicts and robbers andall who have sinned surely he died and rose again for your sins. All those who turn away from there sins shall be saved. Jesus does not condone sin but he does cleanse us from all unrighteousness.Stop the sin and resist the urge to sin and call on the name of Jesus, Just try it and let me know and I will be callinfg on him on your behalf. May God bless and keep you. :amen:

Mosch,

I want to say I was in the Air Force and was statione in Germany for three years. I decided in that time to follow Christ. It was difficult. The friends I did hang around all did things that I wanted to get away from. It was difficult to part from that.

As manny posters stated--It will be difficult until Christ returns. The important fact is we all need to be ready for his return.

To make it--It takes the whole body of Christ to pull together and lift each other up. We need to love you, encourage you and pray for you. We are all here if you need us!!.

Keep in God's word and pray. Search around your area for a church family that will uplift you.

Keep us informed on your progress and we may grow together.

God Bless,

Your friend in Christ:pray:

You do not believe That Jesus can help you is not the problem. That satan is at work is not your hindrance.
The truth is that nothing can seperate us from the love of our Fater He speedily accept those who come to Him and those who have the slightest feeling for Him. Your question is different from that of "why can't God stop Adam from eating the forbidden fruit".
Listen my dear, there is something latent in you that can more than take care of fending for the need without the kind of help you want Jesus to do. Jesus believe in that that is in you and He is waiting for you to realise it . Thed true picture is this He is looking for the Angel that will enhance the conviction oof that very knowledge and power you need and will never rest or give theh angels rest until this is achieved. He loves you so much that He is interested in even trivial things such as the best way to have you shoelace tied that will attract peoples attention and make them say good words that will make you the joyous.
Look back at many things you need and had not requested for but had come your way at the approipriate timing, who setted it up? Many time you needed shirt but it's not in your priority for the moment but you just happened to be in possession of the best shirt who did it. Jesus is doing more than helping you but want you to be happy and to make others glad.
Please don't make mistake I had experienced this and had been asking same questions even will I CALL MYSELF HIS friend. The least He will do is not to help you the greatest sacrifice He offered on the cross specially for you.

I'm so glad that you are trying to live a holy life. I know that you have just became a Christian, and it is hard for you right now, but you are taking into account that you are not living a holy life like you are suppose to. You've acknowledged that and you are seeking for help.

CONGRADULATIONS!!! Becoming a Christian is a big step for you. Your life will never be the same!

Being a Christian is not an easy road, however, you will become more blessed than you would have been, because you have God on your side now. You have accepted God's gift for your life and you are trying to live like he wants you to.

You said you don't want to sin everyday and keep asking for forgiveness? Well, sorry to bust your bubble, but that's going to happen. We are humans and no matter what we do, we are always going to sin our life. God didn't say that we are Christ-like, but that we are becoming like Christ. Becoming holy is a process. It takes time.

This world is consumed with things that can consume us and distract us from Christ. These things are not bad, but will overtake us if we don't watch it. God gave us this earth to enjoy, however, because we decided to bring sin into this world, many things have been twisted and poisoned by Satan.

This world is growing away from Christ, instead of to Him. But like it says in the Bible, this world is going to become worse as His coming draws nearer. But, it also says "who have we to fear, if God is on our side?." We don't have anything to fear, because we know where we are going to go after we die.

I understand that you are going through alot since you live in Germany and all is not as free as the freedoms as in the USA. I will continue to pray for you in that aspect.

All I can say to you is that I can pray for you. The rest is up to you and God. Read His word daily, pray, and ask Him to help you. He will hear your prayers, and will answer them, but you must be willing to step in faith and trust Him to lead you in the right direction.

I'm sorry for going on and on, but I sometimes just ramble on. I would just like to congradulate you on your decision, I pray that you will never be the same, and keep your passion for Christ. He will do mighty things through you.

If you need anything else, please let us know.

My pm is matthew_cates (on Yahoo IM), pm me anytime that you need help...my phone is on 24/7. I hope that you will continue to stay in contact with me, I can't wait to see what God has in store in your life. God Bless!
