Why can I tell some people

Have you ever noticed that when certain people comment on your cuts you can open right up to them but others you can't tell? I have made up some stupid gardening stories to tell some people who I don't think would understand.

yeah sometimes I make up stories to people to(only 4 close friends know what the real reason was for my cuts when I had them). Sometimes I say I accidentally slipped and fell on the edge of a sharped edged curb..or the cat gave me the scratches(which was mostly my answer since I have a cat that has very sharp claws).

i hated when pple would ask and I am still self-conscious about my cuts and it has been 5 years!

The outside scars will never go away...

The outside scars are a constant reminder of terrible times. I am sorta looking forward to cooler weather when wearing sweaters is ok.

I know what you mean. It really depends, for me, on the type of person. I can usually judge if they'd understand or not, but even sometimes if they aren't the type of person I would normally tell, if I get impatient with people asking, I just say "I'm a cutter", and they stop bothering me. Heh. I'm not really ashamed of the fact, especially now that I'm in treatment and am recovering, but sometimes, like on the first day back at uni when I'm meeting a lot of new people, I choose to cover up the scars so people don't judge me immediately by their assumptions.

Only really special poeple get to know about mine. You get to have control over that and you get to decide. Atleast the way I worked it but I don't have any visible scars and I am an excellent hider when i have fresh ones. I guess it's different when you really can't hide the scars cuz they are visible. That'd be really tough.

According to other people, my cat scratched me alot lol. But I would tell one friend when our fights were the trigger. He knew. But the stopped talking to me because I was too emo for him...yea he wasnt a good friend at all.

I really want to tell my husband, I just hide it from him, he knew about 3 years ago, but doesnt know I still do it.
I dont know what to say to him, coz he was really upset last time.

How come everytime I opened up to someone, they made me feel worse, or told me I was just looking for attention, now its been 3 years and I havent told anyone how I feel, now I think im going to EXPLODE!!
Does any one else know this feeling.
