  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Living a Christian life, isn't your life one of happiness and love? So many people seem to question every aspect of their relationship with God. What each group practices and believes about the most controversial subjects means very little to me. I think God has granted us all the ability to know what is truly right and wrong. He has also given us of the faith the strength to make the right decisions. I never fret over days, words, images. Since I began walking with God, I have never stumbled. Just my take on things. Thoughts?

The OP asks: "Living a Christian life, isn't your life one of happiness and love?"
For the most part, yes.

The OP claims: "I think God has granted us all the ability to know what is truly right and wrong."
Speak for yourself, OK?
I think that this is impossible.
Even if some Christians have a solid sense of right and wrong, many DON'T.

Then[staff edit]: "He has also given us of the faith the strength to make the right decisions."
If you can show me ONE person (except, maybe, Jesus Christ) who has made every decision in his Life the absolutely right one, I would be impressed.

And, he said: "Since I began walking with God, I have never stumbled."
The WORST Sin is to be aware of none.
If you think you are (practically) perfect, then why do you need Jesus?

So it's kind of a 'everyone to their own' take? I'm down with that... :)

I think that what you say and imply is true though. Too many times in my own life I have tried to make sense of things that I don't understand and for the large part, it just makes me miserable ... thinking about why God didn't protect or heal certain people who seemed to be in the middle of His will, why He allows bad things to happen to certain good people yet why other bad people are blessed abundantly, and many other such questions. The more I think about those questions, the less and less that I find I can trust God and find joy and peace in Him. I haven't quite discovered the secret that allowed Paul to say "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say Rejoice!" when up to the knees in sewage and waste in a jail cell...

I just think that God's ways and the ways that He works are just so above me and my reasoning that the more I think about it the less I can understand. I guess that's what it means to walk by faith, something that I'm still learning to do (which is against my natural nature)...

I never said "every decision" or "perfect". But you did.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matthew 7:7

If you never ask, nothing will ever be given you...
Free will - He will not cram down our throats what we do not ask to hear...
The mysteries of God are found by asking the hard questions.

Doesn't really apply to what I said. Did you read the whole post?

So many people seem to question every aspect of their relationship with God.

What is wrong with that? I still say without questioning, you will find no answers, and will not see the big picture... I want more, not less.... no ?'s, you get less.

What each group practices and believes about the most controversial subjects means very little to me.

it is in the controverisal subjects that the mysteries of God are revealed. The whole point of what the scriptres teach is to have relashonships with one another - love, don't steal, be selfless, be charitable - the only thing from this life we take with us our associations with eachother. Missionary work means very little to you? Learning the truths others have found means very little to you? Communicating with others means very little to you? Are you a hermit? It is a small small world for those who do not take interest in anyone but themself... sorry, don't mean to be harsh, I exaggerate to make a point. Life is not meant to be lived in a void...

I agree, we all have the ability to know right and wrong - but never stumbled? Isn't that a little... prideful? Perhaps you have stumbled in not seeing yourself honestly :)

Have you given away all your money to the poor? Sold your house and car - given it all away? Have you preached to all the world Jesus lives? Have you Loved another more than yourself? do you spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week doing nothing but serving others around you? Perhaps you would say this is not required... Then you are limiting the depth of existence that is possible for all of us...

Think about the body of Christ. We each have diffrent fucntions and gifts in the body that others don't. I personally have a passion for theology but thats me :) what works for one person might not work for another :)

No, it's a life of repentance, based on the fact that every last one of us fails to love God and neighbor as we should.
