Why ask "can I listen to this"?

As a Christian I feel that you should listen to whatever you want.

If I listen to a song that talks about Atheism, that does not make me an atheist.

Similarly, just because a song discusses african-american issues, that doesn't make me black

As long as you distance yourself from questionable messages, I think it's fine to enjoy whatever music is out there.

This is a pretty big issue for me, since I'm a HUGE metalhead. Many people know that there are quite a few metal bands with anti-christian messages, but here is where I stand on the issue.

As long as you don't allow these things to affect your faith or your closeness to God, then it's okay. To me, it's sort of like enjoying horror movies. You watch for entertainment, and you listen for entertainment. So don't allow music with questionable messages affect your way of thinking, just as you don't allow horror movies with anti-christian themes affect it.

I agree with you. I don't get on too well with people who tell me what I should and shouldn't listen to. I think most people are sensible, and a certain type of music will not stop them being Christian. On purely on the basis of a song.

I listen to any type of music I want to. I wouldn't listen to anything that was clearly anti Christian, or was mocking Christianity because it just doesn't do anything for me.
