In this time in History with all that is going on around us...like the overload of information, through internet, TV and Newspapers, The reality of multiple world views and the clash of them: Why are you so? Why are you sure that Christianity and Christ are correct or why Is your non-christian faith or lack of faith sound in your own mind and heart. Why are you at peace in your own being that you have chosen the right path?

It has little to do with self assurance. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us/me "faith in my heart and in my mind."

So you are saying that God has come "within" you and thats why you're sure. So now I'm guessing you have no doubts and have perfect communion with God now that hes in you. Is that true?

I am not sure that I have chosen the right path at the moment, but I can tel lyou why I think Christianity is true:

1) Healings in Jesus' name: I have seen and heard of many genuinely sounding healings (fast ones, not placebo over a long time).

2) Evidence for Jesus' Resurrection: It says it in the title.

3) Morality: I believe right and wrong are actually right and wrong and that this is likely held in the absolute mind which gives the universe value.

4) Religious Experience: Coincidences/God-incidences

There may be other reasons and the above are in order of most to least convincing to me at the moment.

Actually No, I very specifically said in my first post that the self assurance of our salvation has nothing to do with our own personal feelings. The gift of assurance is a product of the Spirit.

A couple reasons. First, I can't deny what happened to me spiritually-its like me denying that I'm presently typing this or saying the sun is the moon.

Next,
I suggest he research the credibility of the bible concerning overwhelming evidence which is very high even though it’s a spiritual decision first.
Visit:
www.TheBibleProofBook.com, (you will need acrobat reader for this), read The Evidence That Demands A Verdict by Josh McDowell a former agnostic- (its overwhelming circumstantial evidence of bible) and Examine the Evidence by Muncaster a former athiest/The Case for Christ and The Real Jesus by Lee Strobel a former athiest. www.equip.org (articles), http://www.gotquestions.org/

Are you a good person? www.livingwaters.com/good/

I have studied other worldviews and religions and none come close to this evidence.

Consistency/Written by God

It claims to be spoken by God, 2 Timothy 3:16-17. No other religious book makes such claim.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
External Evidences (prophesies outside bible)
These cities were prophesied to be destroyed and never built again.
Nineveh - Nahum 1:10, 3:7,15, Zephaniah 2:13-14
Babylon - Isaiah 13:1-22

Gilgamesh Epic, The Sumerian King List, Mari Tablets, Babylonian Chronicles

Why are you at peace in your own being that you have chosen the right path?

I believe I have chosen the right path because I am at peace with it.

If we all found peace in the paths we have chosen, the world would be a better place.

God Bless.

We have a bunch of Christians that are sure, any atheists or non-christian faiths that would like to share would be nice.

This is the "Exploring Christianity" forum, not "Exploring Atheism or Non-Christian Faiths" forum.

I am a Christian because when I read the Gospels I agreed with what Jesus said and did. That is not to say that I believe because of this fact or that fact. Truly enough, I believe in many of the facts and commands that Jesus put forward. I believe in the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman. I believe that money corrupts people and that giving it away to the poor is the best thing to do with it. I believe in meeting hatred with love and violence with non-violence. Those things are just a few of the facts and commands where I'm in full agreement with what Jesus said. But like I said, I do not believe because I agree with a certain list of facts, but rather because I believe that the approach Jesus Christ uses is the correct one. In the Gospels I see that He did not always answer questions, but often replied to questions with new questions and tried to provoke the questioners into thinking for themselves. And I see that He frequently spoke in parables that were left open for interpretation. And I see that when He did give commands it was never with specific instructions to do a certain amount of good deeds, but rather a pointer in a specific direction that left open the question of how much good is good enough. And these are the methods that I believe in, so that's why I became a follower of Jesus.

As for the overflow of information in our modern age, I find that it works in favor of Christianity, rather than against it. When I read material that's against Christianity, whether from secular sources or other religions, the sharp contrast between the narrow and small-minded approach of that material and the great and generous approach of Jesus makes me appreciate Jesus all the more.

I'm an existential and moral nihilist, I believe in nothing beyond the physical, and that life has no particular meaning or purpose. I also believe morality is a man made system of control.

I believe I'm right because I logically cannot see any way in which anything supernatural to exist, and there is no evidence to the contrary to convince me otherwise.

Fair enough, You are the way you are because the Bible and the Koran have no validity in your eyes. I can see your point of view. Though how well do you know Bible? Is your understanding of the Bible, only from Humanists? Thanks for posting

This is a pretty depressing view of life. How far have you searched the scriptures? What do you think the basic doctrines of Christianity are? Would you consider Israel in the land of Egypt a fact of history or a wild tale?

OP,
We are actually spirit beings and G*d communicates to the spiritual through prayer. There is an intellectual element involved too. There is also grace from above when G*d calls his children to Him. This calling differentiates the right path from the wrong path as far as spiritual communication is concerned. Because there are many wrong paths.

Because God is. Not because I feel He is; for tomorrow I may feel differently. Not because reasoned arguments convince me that He is; for tomorrow I may begin to doubt what once convinced me. Not because I want Him to exist; for tomorrow my wants may change and God may become inconvenient. No, I believe in God because He is as obvious as the universe He has made, as near as my own thoughts, as real as His countless answers to prayer, and as true as the great and precious promises He has fulfilled to me.

I could pretend, as so many do, that He has never been, but the foolishness of that fiction is too great for me to sustain. I could shake my fist in defiance of His Soveriegnty and resolve to steer my own course, but I have only to look about me at the countless human shipwrecks to see the terrible folly in placing a blind man at life's helm. I could wall myself in with human "science" and "logic" "til I had erected a fortress unassailable, massive and immoveable. But the builders of these keeps grow cold and blinded by the very walls they erect; they are so proud of the power of their stronghold to obscure God they never realize that these same walls also imprison them.

God is. This is, as far as I'm concerned, a simple, brute fact, which no amount of denial will erase.

Selah.
