Well, I've since fallen away pretty much spiritually, though I don't miss Mass. Some health issues brought to light the fact that I didn't actually believe any of it in the first place. I'm still looking, though. Praying every now and again. From my theological past, I'd found a few things that I couldn't reconcile within the Catholic Church. It's amazing how much you can lose in four months, though. I couldn't for the life of me tell you what they were.
I'm So sorry to hear that...

Please come back to us soon, wouldn't want you to miss out on such a wonderful experiance...

Rhamiel,

Since I have been excommunicated I have heard every smart answer that that the Catholics have to say, so I don't need anymore smart answers.

You were excommunicated form the Catholic Church officially? Or were you just kicked out of OBOB?

and I'm dying to know what you did to get excommunicated formally if it's the former?

I was a Charismatic long before I got kicked out of the Catholic Church. It was a great life being a Catholic and visited the small Protestant Charismatic churches. However, I slipped-up and married one of the Protestants in her church.

I would like to get back to where I was before, but this time with the traditional latin mass. They are more strict like the protestants, and actually live like what the Bible says.

The priest told me today that it would be okay if I sing in the Spirit along with the Gregorian Chants as long as I didn't distrub the people around me.

At present I am reversed. I am now a Protestant who worships with the Catholic. I don't like it that way, because I loose the Sacraments.

Regardless of which denomination, I will always be a Chrismatic forever until Jesus comes. I am born again!

Oh.. okay... that's what I get for not reading all the post.. man, I thought you may have done something good...

look, here's the deal, I can "hear" the irritation and total lack of respect in your voice but the Church did not kick you out- you kicked yourself out becuase you wanted to have it your way.

There are so many false notions and premises in your post, I don't know if even want to but here's one, charismatic? really?

You created this division becuase you want what you want. whatever... but don't tell us that smart answers don't cut it... nothing cuts it for you becuase you want what ya want and that's about all there is to it.

In fairness to the OP who started this thread, could we stay on topic please? Some of you may want to start another thread, perhaps titled, "Why I'm no longer Catholic" and discuss your differences there. Thanks!

Now to answer the OP's question ---

This is the greatest gift my parents could ever have given me, and I did not fully appreciate it until my late 20's when I had a RE-conversion. All those years of Catholic school, Catechism memorization, daily mass, etc., came flooding back with a passion that was somehow missing while I was younger. I can never thank God enough for my wonderful faith! He could have conceived me in a pagan's womb, but now I know I am chosen to be of His household!

Was there something that tested your faith in the beginning of this? Lately I've been going through a spiritual trial where I'm constantly tempted and feel very far from God. Sometimes it's very difficult for people to hold on when things get more difficult spiritually. I'm not saying I'm any good at it. My faith right now is basically just an act of the will. It was very different before. I think..the only thing I can say, if I can say anything, - is that it helps to pray with trust in God. It's very, very difficult to keep faith if/when we don't trust Him.. and sometimes this is a choice that we make with no feelings at all, simply through the will, and our will always remains free. I'm sad to hear that you've fallen away spiritually but I myself am in danger of that every day - again, it's very difficult sometimes. Have you ever just come to an Adoration chapel and sat there for 30 minutes, with the intention of opening yourself up to God? never know what He might do, but it depends on us :)

God bless.

More or less. I hadn't been in good health for three months at the time. There's not one thing in particular that I can remember that caused me to fall away, but I did, somehow. I can relate with the act of will idea. That wasn't too often but, especially at our church, faith was hard to maintain. Our church had (has, as far as I know) a number of unruly people (in the faculty/background) who basically did what they wanted (most of which was contrary to Church teaching). In any case, the church was not much of an atmosphere for growing in the faith. I have yes, but at some point, it became ineffective. I think I just stopped trying, though. I'm back now, and looking.

Br. Xavier... what happened in that past is in the past, although my grandma always said the past walks right along side of us... hmm... anyway. It doesn't matter what was, it's what you can choose NOW, today.

You can choose different today. Right now. It's not about what you chose, it's about the fact God gave you another day to still choose differently now.

and for the rest of y'all... wake up if you don't think this is not serious, real and ruining the faith of many. It needs to be exposed and dealt with.

With that said, it's a real struggle, a battle of our will. We have will to stay. It may not feel good all the time, but faith is not about feeling good all the time.

Yeah, it would be nice to have one thread though that sticks with the OP & stays uplifting. Seems everyone wants to drag whatever the want into every thread. And that too, had caused people distress. I got the PM's.
