• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why are you a creationist?

 I don't follow you on that one?
Creation is the theological idea that God created the universe.

Creationism is a particular how that God created.

Evolution is also a particular how that God created.

So, you can believe that God created but created by the processes you lump together as "evolution".

The key is that creation and creationism are not the same thing.

Then the evolutionists I have talked to about this must have been lying. My own experience is that when a creationist brings up how life started in the proverbial primordial pool, they often say that's not evolution, that is the study of origins. Argument over.
Apples and oranges. The evolutionists are correct. Biological evolution does not include the origin of life. All theories have boundaries. Cell theory doesn't explain star formation. Gravity doesn't explain protein synthesis.

Biological evolution assumes the existence of life. Given life, then Darwinian evolution explains the diversity of life on the planet.

Now, you have just met your first evolutionist who will also give you a material process:
http://www.siu.edu/~protocell/
http://www.theharbinger.org/articles/rel_sci/fox.html

Start there and we can continue. But notice we are not talking evolution but chemistry.

Sure SCIENCE in general looks at origins, but in my experience is that EVOLUTIONISTS do NOT.
Biological evolution does indeed look at the origins of species. Isn't that what Darwin called his book? On the Origin of Species.

You can't really argue with my personal experience
In this case, I could. I go look at the internet discussions you've participated in and check your claim out. ;)

I am a creationist because I love the LORD. I know this could not happen by chance!! How wlse would such an intelligent design come to be?

May God Bless all of you!
Evolution never said it came about by chance.

And the ID argument went by the board with the observation that most of the designs in living organisms aren't so "wise". A God that did these designs would be stupid, cruel, and suffering from Alzheimer's. Since God is not supposed to be any of these things, natural selection rescued God from a really tough spot.

And those ideas came from... ?
Those aren't ideas, they are data.

From the designs in biological organisms -- wings for flying, legs for running, etc -- creationists argued to a "designer". Now, since the only source of designs they were familiar with was human artifacts, they argued from analogy that biological organisms were manufactured artifacts. Like watches. And of course manufacturing requires an intelligent entity to do so.

Now, this applies to the original creationists, of course. Those like William Paley. Modern creationists? They will have to tell you.
