What is it that you are noticing that is bothering you. May I add that you should not wonder about the Baptist church based on what you read on an Internet forum. If you have problems speak to your pastor, that's what he is there for.
Hi BT. First, let me just say that there are many things about the Baptist people as a whole that I really like. I like that most Bapists are firm in the Word of God, I like that the Bible is so important to Baptist and that they love God so much. I like that the Baptist have a real heart to reach out to the lost, these are the reasons I started attending a Baptist church in the first place. However, and mabye it is just some of the Baptist on this board but I really get the impression that they (the ones I am speaking of) think they are above other Christians. These folks put off a real sense of superiority and condesending behavior. Also, I have been very welcomed on other parts of the forum and been made to feel like a valuable member of God's family but here on this part of cf, I feel very out of place and ignored. I know for a fact that I am not the only "baptist" who has been made to feel this way on this part of CF. The reason I don't post much here is because it seems very "cliqueish" and I left that behind in High School and have no desire to go back to it. There just seems to be a really strong mentality of "if you don't agree with everything I say, you are a moron and not a real baptist".

I am just starting to think that maybe the Baptist church is not my perfect fit and maybe God is wanting me somewhere else at this point in my life.

God Bless,
Frankie

Frankie, May I make a comment about your concern?

Regarding whether you attend a Baptist church or not should be based on your real-life experience in a Baptist church. The internet is something of a false reality. You can read the words written but not hear the nuance behind the words that either soften or harden them - making them friendlier or sarcastic. And in some ways, I think people are different on the internet than in real life. I've run into a few that created false images. I even ran into one fellow that was adept at drawing people to him and what he preached, forming a cliquue, attacking those who disgreed (me), finally forming another messageboard in protest....but in time, some ugly things came out. He wasn't at all what he seemed.
This is a false reality. I don't know how else to say it.

Did you feel the leading of the Holy Spirit when you chose the church you are in? Have you been enlightened and are you growing in Christ there? Are you serving God through this church? These things are very important in regards to what church you attend.

I think C. S. Lewis touches on this topic...no matter which Church you attend, you're going to run into people that come off this way. I often seem agressive and sarcastic but I really don't mean to, maybe others have the same problem with expressing their views in written form, it's something I'm trying to deal with. What I'm saying is, maybe these people you're speaking of really don't believe they're above other Christians, it's just they way they are.

God bless,

SP
PS: If you leave the Baptist Church because of these people, the devil wins, we lose a member who could do some good within the Body. Where would you go, do you have a church in mind?

No, I don't have a church in mind. It hasn't gotten to that point. I am just praying about it all right now and leaving it in God's hands. I am not going to make any major decisions on it right now because my emotions are high so I am just praying and letting it all come together in God's time and through His will.

God Bless,
Frankie
