It seems like every one sponsoring or supporting actions against evolution is a Republican. When did that become part of the platform?

Since the year 2000, AFAIK.
I didn't see that specifically. This is what I saw when I reviewed the Texas Republican Party Platform.
We respect the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and our founders' intent to restrict the power of the federal government over the States and the people.
...Yet we support democracy only as long as we hold a majority, preferring instead to integrate church and state into theocracy, and to establish laws to restrict freedom of religion, deny the accused due process of law, and to further oppress specific minority groups we don't like by reversing multiple civil rights advances that have already been established.
We believe that the least government is the best government, that the proper function of government is to do for the people those things that cannot be achieved individually, and that the most effective government is government closest to the people.
...Yet we also promote letting Homeland Security get a lot closer to people than they want, .or will even be aware of.
We believe that human life is sacred because each person was created in the image of God;
[assuming there is one, which there almost certainly isn't, and pretending we actually know anything about it even if there is such a thing.]
that life begins at the moment of conception and ends at the point of natural death; and that all innocent human life must be protected.
...in direct conflict to our "infallible" Bible, and to the Hebrew tradition upon which it is based.
We believe that good government is based on the individual and that each person's ability, dignity, freedom and responsibility must be honored and recognized. We believe that while equal opportunity is a right and privilege, equal outcome is not.
...yet we're still pushing the "no child left behind" nonsense that expects exactly that, and results in every child being equally ignorant.
We insist that no one's rights are negotiable and that individual freedom demands personal responsibility.
...Yet we deny women federally established rights to crucial determinations regarding their own bodies and lifetime commitments; and we deny homosexuals the right to equal declaration of their lifetime commitments as well. That, and one of out three Texas blacks is incarcerated, on probabtion or on parole, and blacks are three times more likely to be arrested than whites in the same situation. And the penalty for possesion of the form of cocain favored by black users is five times higher than the equivelent amount and strength of the other version of the same drug favored by whites.
We believe that taxes and government spending are out of control, and therefore we support fundamental, immediate tax reform that is simple, fair and visible.
...Yet we still want even bigger defense budgets across the board, but also to protect against an imagined threat of intercontinental ballistic missiles which will never be used by anyone, and to beef up our coast guard for a naval assault which also will never come.
We believe that traditional marriage is a legal and moral commitment between a man and a woman. We recognize that the family is the foundational unit of a healthy society and consists of those related by blood, marriage, or adoption. The family is responsible for it's own welfare, education, moral training, conduct and property.
...even though our larger cities have the higher divorce rates that any other cities on Earth. And we have more mothers murdering their children than any other state in the union.
We believe that a well educated population is fundamental to the continued success of our Republic and that parents have the right to direct their children's education and to have the choice among public, private and religious schools. Competition improves education.
....except in this case, where private religious schools are actively trying to subvert and undermine education, particularly on the topics of health, history, and especially science. Instead, we are opposed to the teaching of sex education and birth control. We also want to teach our kids that our best-supported scientific theories are no more than baseless speculations without any verifiable substance, evidence, validity or practical application. We have also decided that the harsh reality of our national history, specifically our mistreatment against tribal Americans, blacks, women, hispanic and Asian immigrants, and especially Mormons, Jews, atheists, and others who's philisophical perspective we subjectively determine to be different from that of dogmatic Protestant Christians, -should not be taught in history class. Instead our policy is to hide those skeletons in the closet, lock the door, and pretend we're better than we are. That's a wonderful addition to our existing policy of not teaching our children anything about anywhere else if the story doesn't involve the US in some central way.
We believe that the future of our country depends upon a strong and vibrant private sector unencumbered by excessive government regulation.
..Yet we're constantly trying to add new government restrictions in the form of constitutional ammendments.
We believe that a strong American ensures a free America. While we recognize that American is an active participant in the global community, we must vigilantly protect the sovereignty of the United States. Freedom is never free, and we honor all those who have served our nation to protect our liberty.
..Yet while we will accept heterosexual coed occupation of foxholes, we have for some reason determined that homosexuals should not be eligible to help heterosexuals to defend our country. Why? We're just bigoted and always have been. Homos are the last minority we can still get away with ****ing on.
Because all Americans have the right to be safe in their homes, on their streets, and in their communities, we believe in tough law enforcement with stiff penalties, no loopholes and judges who respect the rights of law abiding Americans.
..Yet Texas, and its neighbor, Louisiana, are the only states in the union to have rejected the 4th ammendment by allowing what are still illegal searches and seizures according to the United States' Constitution. We also have the highest per capita prison populations in the whole country, half of them on nothing more than marijuana charges and the result of profiling.
We believe that personal and public integrity is the cornerstone of a stable and lasting society and it is the key to preserving the freedoms for which our founders pledged their "Lives, Fortunes, and sacred Honor."
Yeah, sure.
