They dislike us because our Churches and Cathedrals are more beautiful. Envy.
historically, in many ways you are correct.
during the Reformation in England there were many parishes, monistaries, and churches that were raided and denegrated. The same thing happened in France during their revolution.

I just sorted pictures and the super secret Masonic book for my stepdad, a Mason. That non-Masonic eyes are not supposed to read. Seriously folks, it does not live up to the gossip. Reminds me of the lodge on the Flintstones.

yep, The Southern Poverty Law Center has us on it's bull's-eye list.

sometimes those feelings filter on down through families from so long ago that the actual origins of such feelings are lost on both sides of the question.

So basically it's up to us just as much as it is to them to turn the other cheek.

Why is Catholicism disliked so much?

I find myself continually trying to stand up for the faith on here. Why? I do so because i love the Catholic faith.

I have seen many stories of ex-Catholic 'haters' eventually becoming a Catholic.

Being a Catholic i can see that these people who dislike 'our' faith are very much misguided and misinformed. If only they would open their eyes and see the beauty of the CC!!

I just want to put it out there, hey I myself do not hate catholics. There is a lot that I do not agree with in the denomination, which makes mean appear hateful. I will gratefully accept any who will profess the word of God is manifest in the flesh, and Jesus as lord.

I have brought into question areas of my own faith many times using the CC as a sounding board and it always leaves me not quite believing the same as you, not hating you, just not agreeing.

Personally, I think I have put a lot of effort into trying to understand the RCC, but I think it is completely opposite to my own belief.

i like this.^^
truth has nothing to fear whenever it is questioned, and can always stand up to the examination. If what we believe gives you the opportunity to weigh and measure what you believe, then in the long run we both profit.

Do you know anyone who belongs to the Masonic Lodge?
Well, we all know it was the state goal of Freemasonry and Freemasons in the 18th, 19th, and into the 20th centuries to destroy Christ's Holy Roman Catholic Church. She's the #1 enemy of that particular sect.

Keep in Mind there were over a dozen Freemasonic-led/instigated revolutions and civil unrest aimed at overthrowing, diminishing, and suppressing the Catholic Church through Europe and Latin America or pushing it out (in the case wanting to push out Catholic immigrants in America). Some key examples are France in 1789 and 1870s, Italy and Austria-Hungary in the 1840s and in 1860s. Mexico in their revolutions in the 1910s and very other Latin America Liberal Anti-Catholic regimes in the 1800s.

Such led the banning of clerical garb in public, the seizure of ALL Ecclesiastical property which was annexed by the state and curtailing on public preaching in many areas. Missionaries orders were forbidden and expelled from dozens of countries. Heck, even in America in the 1800s many Catholic parishes (Polish ones) were surrounded by mobs of Protestants and burned to the ground in major urban areas. NYC and I think possibly Boston (?) being among some of them?

Hmm..

it seems to be a choice between smells and bells

freemasonry and

people fearing the Church wants to legislate its own Morality on the country, sort of its own Sharia law--and that it will hold social justice goals hostage until the country accepts it. Is it even a contest?

The Church does 'legislate' and prescribe morality for her members. It'd be pointless her not to instruct her children in morality, ethics, and how to save one's soul.

And politically they strive to legislate their Morality over others.

Gay couples aren't worried about our use of incense!
lol, are you sure about that?

so why is it that you have no trouble with the government legislating morality for everyone, but you do have problems with the church doing the same thing? and especially since the Church is far older than the U.S. government.

....

I see no problem with this. The Church has always influenced and pushed for morality in the public and political sphere. As the late, Bishop Sheen said:
