This thinking is part of why America has such massive income inequality and poverty levels.
Why not give those on the 16h shift compulsory room and board when they are not working? That’d keep those rascals from not working and having fun.
Oh if only the utopia of pre mechanization coal mining town was still around. Ban mining automation! And don't forget about a company store that will supply all the workers needs, and at a fair price too.
“If we don’t have it, then you don’t ‘need’ it!”And don't forget about a company store that will supply all the workers needs, and at a fair price too.
I've seen you make this claim before. Do you have a source other than your daughter? My daughter reminded me that every US colony was set up as a for-profit enterprise. Wage-slavery is baked into the bones of the USA. Making profit for investors is the American base code.
So your rationale against UBI is the same as the south's rationale as to why they needed to enslave black people, because black people are so uncivilized that they couldn't possibly be allowed to just run free. Just think of the debauchery they'd revert to.Most people in their free time don't knit or crochet or read a book or pray, they go out partying and socializing watching porn and going on dating apps. So if they have nothing but free time on their hands, those are the things they will do but multiplied by 100.
You load sixteen tons,And don't forget about a company store that will supply all the workers needs, and at a fair price too.
I've seen you make this claim before. Do you have a source other than your daughter?
Murica!You load sixteen tons,
and what do you get?
So that would be a no.All you have to do is read the history. There's no secret about it. How and to whom each was chartered has been "open source" information for hundreds of years.
Automation never, ever produces more jobs for more people.
So that would be a no.
For those whose jobs are being automated - definitely not. However in broader terms automation can be fairly neutral, as automation in one area opens up opportunities to create jobs in another, typically through increased efficiency and reduced cost.
I agree that it's hard to quantify in total, because the impacts are complex. Automation rarely impacts a single job type in a single industry, and so tracking what automation has done in terms of net job losses or gains isn't easy.People keep saying that...it's almost a mantra.
But nobody seems to be able to quantify it, not even a piece of it. Can someone look at one particular point of automation and trace back to the greater number of jobs that one particular point of automation created?
Besides the cotton gin creating a greater market for slaves, that is.
So you're doubling down on the no.That would be a "didn't you study American History in school?"
. How does having more free time mean more evil deeds? If people aren’t stressed about work or money, we’d see less crime considering the high correlation between poverty and crime. It won't make them less moral, those who are already less moral will have more time to do their immoral deeds.
That’s exactly what a UBI is intended to do. Allow people to work less. What I think would be better is making it so that a work week is 20 hours instead of 40 hours.
I think you misunderstood the intent snd structure of an UBI. Everyone would absolutely not be sitting around not working. UBI isn’t supposed to support people completely. It’s intended to be supplemental or just provide a bare bones existence that most people wouldn’t find to be “enough."But everyone sitting around not working all day every day will be a disaster.
. I don’t think God created us to do meaningless work just so that a few people can get rich. That’s what many if not most people do. It’s good to move, to build and create, to care for others, to innovate and steward the land. Most jobs don’t resemble that, or the division of labor alienates people from the benefit of their work.God created us to work not sit around all day.
So you're doubling down on the no.
