Why are people so stubborn about the abortion issue?

How many babies died in the flood according to the bible ?
This means nothing. Human lives are for God to take at any time and place, for any reason or no reason. We however, do not have the right to take human life, except for special instances authorized by God.

I disagree. I will not worship a God less moral than myself.
God is perfectly moral. And as a holy, supreme, and creator God, he reserves the right to take human life as he sees fit. He has the right to take life, and the power to create life. He's God. We're not.

The Bible mentions abortion ONCE and mentions it as only being a civil crime with a relatively low fine. I really wish people would stop reading 3rd and 4th century Christian theology back into the text.
You make an valid observation. Permit me to muse a bit about it.
The context of that, as I recall, was as a consequence assault. The consequence of the resulting "miscarrage" seems rather light though not passed over as a non-incident.
Calibration point: Human life is initiated when the ovum receives a sperm and becomes a zygote/embryo. The genetic complement is complete and a new person is in development. This is a definable point. Beyond that it becomes a matter of philosophy and desire.
Jesus sharply refined some definitions. The standard for justifed divorce was tightened. The standard for adultery was tightened - to look longingly on a woman was trouble. The standard for murder was tightened - to wish a person was dead was trouble. Abortion as is now common was inconceivable and so could not even be addressed. Even the Calibration Point above was below their horizon. Based on the above tendency of Jesus to internalize concept application I would have to hold to very limited allowance for abortion.
Your response had me do a cursory search on "abortion consequence." The response was very polarized. What is the risk for physical, psychological, spiritual injury? One group says its safer than going to term. Another group says its very risky. But it's apparent that both are defending an agenda. Research standards on this topic are still in development. So from that angle research is iffy.

I woke up this morning with this thread on my mind. Jesus' words to love your neighbor as yourself and do unto others as you would have them do unto you came to mind.

I consider all of God's creation my neighbor, even the unborn child. I imagined had I never been born, then what? If my mother had aborted me, what would become of my soul?

I don't believe as an unborn child I have a choice in the matter.

I personally as a christian cannot condone abortion for any reason, whether our society claims it lawful or not it is wrong.

Seems to me that another threat facing mankind is not abortion but overpopulation. Some experts claim that our numbers will increase from 6 billion to 9 billion by the year 2050. Think of all the consequences that this will entail. Just to name one problem: Billions of people have no access to clean water.

We need to balance our numbers with the availability of Earth's resources. After that we can worry about abortions.

Abortion is a very heated and often passionate topic. In some places unless a baby/fetus is so far along it’s not looked at as murder at least on the laws of man. The opinion of our father in Heaven is certainly a different one.

I hope the Lord has returned by 2050 :clap:and I am living on earth during Christ Millennium Kingdom.

Spirit Star,

Actually, I think, we shouln'd expect God to come to our rescue every time we mess things up. God provided us with a mind to come up with some resolutions of existing problems ourselves.
And as far as the present topic of abortions is concerned, we need to do some family planning.

God bless.

God is still working to preserve life but He has ceased all His work of creating new life.

Abortion is wrong but no one is going to listen, there's way to much money involved, along with the hidden agendas. Many sins are being committed, abortion being just one of them, you will not change people's minds about abortion. There is One who can can change them but they first need to change there minds about Him and that's Jesus.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

You'd think this would be simple, right? Abortion is murder. But others don't seem to see it that way. I'm having a creative discussion with someone on another forum about this topic and no one has sided with me.

I've brought up all the reasons why abortion is unethical but they keep insisting that it's up to the parents. I told them that their parents should've had their same insight. May seem a bit harsh but I was trying to make a point. The person got offended but still won't see my point. Obviously if that offended them, then aborting would've been a bad thing. Would it not?

Why are people so difficult?

You can rest assured that they have offended God and someday when they are judged, they will earnestly wish they hadn't. You're right, people's hearts are black with sin, they close their eyes and ears to what is right and wrong. It amazes me to see posts from some on christian forums with some very unchristian-like views. No fear or respect for God. Lucky for them that God doesn't get angry and spit them into hell. He will someday if they don't repent. Not my word but his. I can think of a story of a man who kept telling the people in his village there is no God. He went out into the woods and screamed, God if you are there kill me!!! This went on for a while. Then he said, well, I am still alive, so there is no God. Unbeknown to this scoffer, a tiny little poisonous spider had bitten him in the middle of his ranting and his raving. He died the next day. God is angry at sin, he does love the sinner, but his word says he will NOT ALWAYS STRIVE WITH MAN. Shake the dust off your feet from even walking near a person / s like you have described and let God judge. :preach:
