Why are Christians such prudes?

In my stats class we learned what to do to make a good sample and a bad sample that is suppose to represent the rest of the target population. These prudish christans you are referring to...are they of a certain denomination? Did these Christians u r establishing your opinion on come from your hometown only? Where they all the same race...ect? Every individual Christian differs from the next and I'm not sure your opinion is based on the proper sample of Christians.

Now concerning the hand holding and kissing... A restriction of that to to you might seem odd but to others it may seem wise and I'll give u an example. A non alcoholic might be able to drink a glass of wine and call it quits and stay sober. They have a strong will. However a a former alcoholic that's been clean for say 2 years might be able to eat rum cake or use listerene without going crazy. A simple kiss or a hand in theirs might be enough to make them aroused...especially if they are abstaining from sex until marriage. It sounds to me like these people are just aware of what they can and can't handle

Fair question.

Because I want to be a Christian, so I need to know the ground rules and why I have to adopt such a prudish attitude towards these things before I convert entirely. If I'm required to mentally castrate myself (figure of speak only), then I had at least know WHY I am doing so, yes?

seeking,

Have you read the Bible to see what God has to say on the subject. A person's opinion on a Christian forum means nothing if it is not in alignment with what God has to say on the subject.

Judging from your responses, I find it hard to believe this is your motivation. Forgive me if I am wrong. You are arguing from the perspective of a skeptic, not a seeker. If you want the truth, read the Bible. The fact that you have asked these questions leads me to believe that even as a person who professes to have previously been a fundamentalist Christian, you have a very limited knowledge of what the Bible has to say on the subject. Are you sure you are not just seeking validation of your views on sex?
