  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is God in full control of our life and we have absolutely no control, we were predestined to be saved. or does one have a power of making a choice that will eventually lead them to salvation or hell. i think this will eventually lead into Predestination and freedom of choice.

Here is my view on it.

the Bible actually never states that we have freedom of choice. our freedom of choice can only be assumed by studying the bible. however these days im becoming more and more convinced that while we do have freedom of choice in our OWN HUMANLY undestanding, our lives are predestined by God, and he is the ultimately the one who chooses who will go to heaven. And there is nothing UNFAIR about us being predestined because we were bought at a price, and who is to say what GOD does is unfair when we are only human?

what do you guys think?

Yes, Christwannbe. He "works all things after the counsel of His own will." The "counsel" of His own will denotes the wisdom of His will. His will has the wisdom in it which might come from serious counsel over each issue. Not that he required lengthy deliberation in a conference as men might, but the wills of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were unified concerning His decree. Therefore, the course of events is not the result of a compromise between God and man, because that could not be called the
"counsel" of His "own" will.

I've had this talk with differant people and I'm not even sure what I totaly believe. But one thing I do believe is God does know us and knows who we are, but to decide if God knows what we're going to do in my mind is wrong. God knows what's in our mind therefor knows most likely what we're going to do but there are many differant roads we can take. Differant possibilities. God can most likely know which one we're going to take, but there is always the chance of us taking a road that is unexpected.
One reason I think this is I don't think God knew Adam and Eve where going to sin. He knew it might happen, but he didn't know for sure. If we think of God as merciful than it just's contradicts that to say he created certain people to go to hell. I think we can all go to Heaven and I believe God can guess which ones are going there from what he knows about us. But as humans we choose to go to heaven or hell it our choice.
I could be wrong though you never know for sure what's true or false. Really we wont know anything for sure untill we meet God in Heaven.

Where in the bible did you read that we don't have freedom of choice. God created humans in his Image and gave them the Free will to choose. It is in the selection that any human makes is what is going to decide what is going to happen. "God is in full control" yes it is true. On the contrary he is not going to force his will over the human will. It is like i am providing you good apples and bad apples and now you have to make a choice to choose what you want. That is what had happened in the garden of eden for adam and eve. Its like you go to a shopping center or market place to buy and you have all these options to choose it is up to you to choose the good ones. There is no guarantee that all the products available in the market are good.

"our lives are predestined by God" Yes they are but it the choice that you are going to make that is going make your destination change. That is why the word of the lord says that we have to Hold our faith till the end. Which means in our every day life we will be challenged on account of our faith and that we need to stick to our faith till the end.

God is throwing all options to every one. You got to choose the smartest among them.
