I am. The entire enchilada variety. Hook line and sinker. For better or worse [and there are worse] heck, we get all the TV con-men first!

Jim and Tammy Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, and for a brief time, Benny Hinn are some of our defrocked superstars. BUT, we are the fastest growing Protestant denomination on earth.

Now with 48 MILLION members, with 45 million of them overseas.

What primarily differentiates the AofG people, is FULL adherance to the Pentacostal experience, all of the "Gifts" ... abused and all, discredited by the DYING denominations [grin, love when they tell us that the "gifts" have ceased] as they get into hot water over liberal issues.

You can learn more, [frankly, much more than you may even want to know] by visiting the official AofG site, and following this link to what they honestly believe. They WALK the walk [when they are not carting off TV guys to jail] they do have a little problem there, and I'm the first to admit to shortcomings of the denomination.

I grew up AG but left about 6 years ago. I'm now attending a non-denominational.

Bruce, your church sounds pretty lively for an AG. The one I attended in Calif was quite lively but when I moved here to Florida, they were quite unlively.

HMm.. I dunno, I dont doubt the gifts infact i think they are great, but thats not the emphasis that i think a church should put on its congregation. But nevertheless cool, i like lively churches.
:D I was trying to be kind to the AG I was attending here in Florida.

I think the emphasis should be on Jesus and Him setting us free. Which in my opinion will bring joy and freedom in one's worship. The AG I attended here in Florida lacked that joy and seemed to concentrate more on how the women dressed, hymnbooks, pews, carpets, whether or not they liked the songleader, etc, etc.

The church I have started attending is also non-denominational...they are changing their name to "The Father's House", which I think is really cool. :D

Some people dress up but many also wear jeans too. I worn jeans! I have had people tell me its a sin to not dress up for church...that its in the bible that we have to dress up to go to church! Well I have never found it...

I don't think God cares about what we wear to church anyway. If He did then those that could not afford nice 'church' clothes, could not go to church and that would be wrong! I had a biker sitting in front of me yesertday wearing a leather jacket...that had Jesus on it. :D

Actually he wasn't sitting much..we were all mostly standing, singing, dancing and praising God. :D

God bless

I have attended Assemblies of God churches on and off for the past 19 years. The most recent church we have been attending is A of G, but we are leaving for many different reasons. I have never agreed with the A of G stance that you can lose your salvation, and the church we have been going to mentions that a LOT. It is a very well known church here in Florida, at one time very large and on the fore-front of the charismatic world, but after a church split their attendance is really down. The Pastor is a great guy, very well respected and known world-wide, but he keeps going on and on about how you better watch out or you could lose your salvation. I have had enough. That and the rock and roll band that masquerades as a worship team has sent us looking for another church. We are seriously thinking of trying a local Baptist church, even if they don't believe in deliverance.

I used to go to an Assembly of God church for years. Then they got heavily into prosperity teaching and "Name it Claim it" Word of Faith stuff. The pastor got way too controlling and broke my ribs in a deliverance service. I now go to a Church of God church (pentecostal). I got alot of help in the church I'm in now. The A/G church split wide open when the pastor allowed false teachings in.

While I dont think any one church or denomination is entirely correct, I do think that AG is the closest in my personal belief.....but Ive been to many nice ones that werent too...if your Christian your Christian..., its a relationship not a religion.....thats all that really matters.
My best friends Grandpa was one of the heads of Church of God denomination.....and he was an awesome guy, and had it right so its more whether or not they are seeking God etc. and not getting too doctrinal...you dont want to lose sight of the real goal. I mean I think they were a good denomination too.
I mean if you look hard enough you can find the faults in any church, thats why I try to concentrate more on God where I'm comfortable (in any house of God) rather than the political/old church gossip aspect! Makes me sick, but like I said thats anywhere you go.

I have been a member of my AG church for about six months and I love it. I have been to a few churches and left for their legalistic veiws and found this church the most accurate. It's not too charasmatic and is undre control. The Sunday night praise, worship and prayer service is powerful!!!.
