This is awesome. :D

So, let me make sure this is correct (my terminology might not be correct), a "novena" are the list of prayers on the end of that article in the OP?
in the case of the op there two prayers list, the novena which is 24 glory be's per day for 9 days (9 days makes it a novena)

The second is a prayer + 5 Our father + 5 hail marys + 5 gloybes for 5 days.

The rose is just a sign that your prayers are being heard

I agree with Aaron-Aggie, I have received many roses for myself and for others. The ones that others receive through my praying of the Novenas I think are the best ones. The absolute best that I think was received was for my son, who is very agnostic, he had an operation and when he woke up afterwards all he saw at first were red roses all over his pillow and bed. They were there for several hours he said. The nurses came in and changed his bed linen and it was then that he realized that it wasn't roses but his own blood on the linen. I knew what I knew and I knew that they were that my prayers had been heard.

Does anyone know that the Novenas were started in the memory that Christ was in Mary's womb for nine months? Awesome. Btw I am a convert too from the Anglican religion - not much different than Catholicism.:amen:

I prayed this, recieved 3 roses on the 3rd day. After I had finished the prayers on the third day, it was very early in the morning..maybe 5am or so I was about to set my alarm and go to sleep when my attention was drawn to the corner of a card sticking out from under a stack of papers near the alarm. I pull the card out, and it's a picture of St. Therese holding a boquet of roses. This caught me off guard and I definetly took this as a "rose". So then the next day I wake up, groggy and walking towards the bathroom when I just look left and notice an artificial rose decoration on the wall (one of my mom's decorations) that I hadn't noticed before..but once again..another rose. Later on that day, when I was coming home from work I stop at a light on the highway and happen to look to my right, there's a white cardboard sign up with a big red rose on the front, which says Longstem roses for sale $xx per dozen. That was number 3. I was praying this asking Jesus to let me know of he wants me to go into a certain ministry or not, that I will get a rose if the answer is yes and no rose if the answer is no From this I now know the answer is yes, just thought i'd bump this up and give my tesitmony as well.

My rose bush burst into loads of new pink flowers, even after the leaves fell off.

But then I saw another rose bush across town which had done the same thing. And then my sister said her rose arch did the same thing.

So either a lot of people have been praying for roses, or I am looking for them too hard. :help: :help: :help:
or st. theresa is makeing sure you don't miss them :)
either way just keep praying and don't worry about roses :)

after the 5th day of praying, I went off to my father's apartment for the weekend. Around nine pm, I insisted that we go to this cute coffee place to get a mocha, and check the local church for mass times, we drove down this street and I saw a flower shop I had never noticed before, a beautiful painting of a rose was on the sign, quite large. I remember thinking, "no, that's not my rose., I was just looking for one", well, later, we had to stop and get gas. My dad stopped at a BP that was right next to the flower shop, I didn't notice it at first, but looked up and saw that we were parked right in front of it. It was the same sign I saw before. I still had that, "no that's not it" thing going through my head. My attention was directed across the street, where another flower theme place was, and on that sign, was another beautiful painting of a rose. :)

I think that if you look hard enough you will see Roses anyway. If you go to town without having Prayed to St. Therese, you will definitely almost always come across a Rose in one way or another.

I don't believe Roses are signs that prayers are being heard and if they are-that's like saying those of us who have never gotten them aren't getting through to Saint Therese or aren't getting through to God.

I remember saying a St. Therese Novena I had on a Prayer card and praying always helps me feel a lil better but I begged for a sign and nothing came. Then I got into thinking it is better to just Pray out of Love and not expect anything so I did.

To this day myself and everyone I know who has Prayed to St. Therese hasn't received a Rose so I am inclined to believe that while prayers are always heard, any seeing of Roses is merely a coincidence that makes you think of St Therese. Even when I haven't Prayed when I smell Rose perfume I think of Mary and St. Therese.

I would like to share a story with you about my Grandfathers' brother.

They came from a very poor family and had little money. They lost everything they did have in a fire and as a result, lost all photos and all possessions.

My Grandad's brother had a very strong devotion to St. Therese. He one day bought a ticket for a prize and he called the ticket St Therese as you had to name the ticket something. He was only a young guy at the time.
They lived in very harsh Australian bushland, and the area was very dry and barren.

One day when clearing out dead bushes, he came across a perfect rose bush in bloom in the middle of nowhere, in the Australian bush when everything else was dead!

He told his family that his prayers had been answered and with a lot of faith told everyone he knew they would win the prize which would help them etc...

When the prize was drawn, and he wasn't the winner it absolutely crushed him. He wondered what it was all about, what the sign was for because it must have been from St. Therese where the rose was and, what kind of joke that could be.

He heard though later that the winning ticket was also called "St. Therese", so someone else had called their ticket that aswell.

He never got over it though and his faith suffered from that. Something similar happened to me when I was 18 and that was the time I was told this story. When you really have high hopes and absolute faith something good will happen then it doesn't, it makes you feel like the rug has been pulled from under you and you never quite get that 100% trust back in hoping and trusting for something because you fell so far before you know?

It wasn't as bad for me as it would have been for my Grandad's brother though-they had lost so much and he had so much Faith. The Bible is very good at lifting us up and believing to Trust and Have Faith, but it doesn't say much about what to do when that faith in good is broken and how you get back that trust.

I have received several roses over the years due to the Little Flower's kindness, but one story sticks out.

My daughter was about 8 years old at the time. We had been out shopping, and stopped at Braums to get a hamburger for lunch. On the drive to the restaurant, I had been telling her about St. Therese and her promise to send a shower of roses to earth.

We reached our destination, ordered our food, and sat down to eat. We were no longer talking about St. Therese, but had moved on to another topic. There was an elderly woman sitting in the restaurant about two booths away. She stood up and walked to us, stopping at our table. She smiled at my daughter, and handed her the most exquisite rose that she had fashioned out of a paper napkin. She gave the paper rose to my daughter, said, "A pretty flower for a pretty girl", and walked out of the store.

I still have that paper rose, and marvel even today years later at how beautiful it is. I've never seen anyone be able to make something like this out of a paper napkin. Was she just a neighbor, or maybe...????? ;)

Maybe a nice old lady? :p

I mean to me it makes no sense for it to be a "sign" from St. Therese because heaps of Mothers tell their kids about Saint Therese but her little flowers were gifts to God, little ways of doing things etc...They were called little flowers and I don't thnk she meant literally a shower of Roses.
I don't mean to be a party pooper but many Mothers tell their children about St. Therese and I doubt they all get a Rose.

I had prayed a novena and in the "petition" part, I asked to be sent a red rose if I was to be ill as long as I live, or a white rose if I were to get better. But you cant force God into yes or no question:

I finished the novena on homecomming day, and my gf's little sister said she got me a rose. When she pinned it on.... It was pink :) Not quite red, not quite white. Didnt know there were pink roses or yellow for that matter (I always thought that song was about The Yellow Rows of Taxis, honest). Thats why i just HAD to get that pink rose item. God's little joke to me i guess.
