It doesn't really matter who the Democratic voters would pick, because the Democratic Party has decided that they need to circumvent democracy to "save" it. The party will instill whoever they want and completely disregard the wishes of the primary voters.

I think I saw somewhere (might've been Fox News) that said it's too late for the Democrats to drop Biden and put in a new candidate. I'm not sure if that's true or not. Biden has been showing these signs for a very long time. We have seen it and talked about it for the last four years. Now that he does badly in a debate do they want to drop him long after the election process has begun? It just shows how much the new media is biased towards Democrats that they refuse to bring it up for discussion in case it dings his reputation.

I really don't get you people. First it's "Biden is senile, he needs to step down!" Then, when that happens, it's "Wait, he can't step down, that's circumventing democracy!"

Make up your mind, already.

Yes, the primary voters chose Biden. But he decided he's unable to run, so that's where we're at. There isn't time to set up a whole nother round of Democratic primaries, so it will have to be sorted out at the convention, and we'll all vote in November, whoever becomes the Democratic nominee.

-- A2SG, I'm fine with Harris, personally, but we'll see how it all shakes out....

Who do you believe Democratic voters really wanted to vote for?

When we voted for Biden, Harris was on the ticket. So we knew if he couldn't do the job, she was ready to. So it could easily be argued we voted for her, too.

It’s all so disingenuous. I don’t know who the right is trying to fool with this approach. Only themselves apparently.

We Democratic primary voters understand the situation and approve of a change. We thank you for your concern but we don't need your input unless you decide to become a democrat.

They had until August 7th before their decision couldn't be undone.

This poll is mostly for the Democrats here. I'm interested to see in who you would pick to replace Biden. If it's someone not listed, please share below. This is a sincere post :)
I am a centrist, but voted for Biden in 2020 (as I have leaned Democrat at the time), the first presidential election for me ever. In 2024, I am gonna go for third party this year, Peter Sonski. But, if I wanted anyone to replace Joe and was forced to vote Democrat at phaser-point, my pick would have to be Kamala, cos that is what others are going with.

Being held at phaser point by Kirk.

The right time for Biden to "decide he was unable to run" was BEFORE the primaries so that the voters could select their candidate.

It's great that you're fine with whoever the Democrats choose to serve up to you. But stop pretending like you're concerned about democracy when you're OK with circumventing the process at all costs to win.

We will never know, since Democrats told everyone how wonderful Biden was and ran him in the midst of his mental decline.

Too late for the party to do that. Biden himself did it, as is his prerogative.

Are you kidding? The pressure campaign for Biden to drop out was immense. If the party hadn't forced him out, he'd still be the candidate.

Expression of opinion, or withdrawal of support, is not "force". Thats a basic error.

There was a coordinated effort by the power brokers in the Democratic Party to oust Biden. Biden was absolutely forced out.

Senior Biden aides were bracing for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who’d worked behind the scenes to encourage others in the party toward the kind of collective action that might finally push the president to end his campaign, to go public this week and possibly even disclose Democratic polling clarifying Biden’s dire political straits.
Nancy made clear that they could do this the easy way or the hard way,” said one Democrat familiar with private conversations who was granted anonymity to speak candidly. “She gave them three weeks of the easy way. It was about to be the hard way.”

What do you mean we’ll never know? I’m asking you who it was in the Democratic primaries that you weren’t allowed to vote for?

If Biden were not in the primaries, then someone else would have won. That person would have been the choice of the Democratic voters. But as we've seen, the Democratic Party doesn't really care who the Democratic voters want. They're going to instill whoever they like, voters be damned.

What's worse is that many Democrats are seemingly OK with this. I guess it's good to finally drop the facade that they're concerned about "democracy". All they're really concerned with is winning the election at all costs, even if that means disenfranchising the millions of people that voted for Biden.

If they thought Biden was not a viable candidate, he should have never been in the primaries to begin with. But since he was, we'll never know who the Democratic voters would have chosen.
