Of all the people who have ever lived throughout all of history, what person, apart from Jesus Christ, would you like to meet? He/she needn't be a religious figure. Why would meeting and talking with this person be such a thrill?

I am shocked this question has not generated any answers. On another board, it swept the imagination of the members.

Let me start it off:
I would have liked to have met Audie Murphy because of his great heroism. So honored he is today, that there is a VA Hospital named after him.

St. Francis of Assisi~I like this quote from Shane Claiborne:

I’d visit the Crystal Cathedral with St. Francis... and then hitchhike to the beach to turn some somersaults and hear him preach to the seagulls.

Hi

It's a total toss up between Elijah and Moses .. most likely Elijah first. I feel very close to the two of them. I'd also like to meet Jeffry Dahmer. I know. Say what! I would, though. I had a dream once about him and Jesus and I want to ask him some things. I'd also like to meet my half brother I've never met and my biological grandmother. I guess the reason for those is obvious. Sorry .. more than one, I know. But still, Elijah first.

Fun question. God bless

Lots and lots of people from the Bible (and so awesome that I will get to meet them one day!). I could create a long list of them. But I'll just mention the first one that comes to mind: Mary.

Other than people from the Bible, at the top of my list would be Leonardo Da Vinci.

This is a great forum question. Here are some people I would have liked to meet and ask questions:

1. Mother Theresa:

I would have liked to find out for myself exactly how "fundamentalist" she was, as I have read much speculation that she was in fact not a fundamentalist. I would have liked to have found out for myself exactly how literally she interpreted the Bible and how her Christianity is different to the fundamentalist Christianity I've grown up with.

2. Adolf Hitler:

I would have been fascinated to find out for myself what made him tick as I find some of his beliefs interesting. I have read Mein Kampf myself and find it really fascinating when he states how wrong it is that professional people are so esteemed over the common worker/labourer-something I agree with. And that was in his day, let alone these days, as technology and progress has grown exponentially.

3. Ronald Reagan:

I have nothing but respect and admiration for a man so dedicated to bringing down the Soviet Union. I would have loved to have found out more about him for myself about all manner of things-politics, life, social issues, religion etc.

3. Natalie Wood:

I thought she was gorgeous when I was a kid and I still thinks she's gorgeous! I wouldn't ask her anything. I'd just stare at her and dream. Hahaha.

Since I hold to believer's baptism they'd consider me a heretic anyhow

come to think of it, they'd think the same thing about me

that's why I chose Spurgeon in the first place - yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Robert Tressell, writer of "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists." George Orwell. The questions they raise about society and social community are stirring. Charles Dickens for the same reason; he said what needed to be said in a way that the middle class accepted: brilliant.

I'd love to meet Alan Bennett, but he's not dead... Dry, witty, wise and humble - a reluctant philanthropist to the lady in the van,Miss Shepherd, who parked on his driveway for fifteen years.

Calvin and Luther wouldn't understand a lot about our times. They wouldn't agree with a lot of stuff that's going on even with traditions that follow their teachings.

Still, they'd be way way down on my "meet & greet" list; they viewed my kind as heretics to the point of persecution...maybe they'd change?
