who will you vote for?

As another poster said on this forum awhile back, we're "screwed" regardless of who wins. I don't like either candidate.

I wish there was a true old fashioned values/strong national defense/pro Israel Christian like Reagan running. Oh well.

I'm voting McCain because I dislike Obama so much.

Sorry but no one has ever been legislated into the Kingdom of heaven. No president is going to save this country.

How many Christians are at least mildly politically active? I would say the vast majority in my exprience. How many Christians are evangelising? How about this fact for you ... only 5% of Christians will so much as invite anyone to come to church in the next 12 months.

Our political activeness only serves to give us an even worse name amongst the lost, it hurts our witness. No, the world will never be friendly to us, the world will never welcome us, but why should we go out of our way to give them reasons to hate us?

I repeat again - every time that the church has become closely tied to the government it has been bad news and signalled the downward trend of faith in that civilisation. The church grows and prospers when it is about one thing - spreading the good news of the gospel.

You can not force people to be moral. How did prohibition work back in the 20's? Not so well. You can't legislate morality, and more than that you can't legislate anyone to heaven.

Agree you can not legislate into the kingdom. Govt can provide freedom for the gospel to be proclaimed and can restrain evil.

Yea, I agree. Reminds me of Savonarola, who tried to force Florence to become moral, got involved in the petty politics of the place, and ultimately paid with his life. Forcing people to be moral doesn't work, and there can be a backlash.

But, that's no reason that I should not vote for Prop 8 and McCain. I want to have a say in what kind of state and country I live in, and by voting, I'm trying to do that.

Well yeah, because the second we bring our unsaved friends to church, the church pushes us to the side and wants to save our friends and their friends and their friends.

I'm not against voting. I AM against us running all of 'our' PAC's, against all of the money and time we spend lobying. As much as I like some of his teaching, I am against the James Dobson's who give us such a reason for the world to ridicule us.

I said it earlier, I will say it again. If we want a more moral society, one where gay marriage is not an issue and abortions are not the first option for millions of peopole, and drugs aren't plaguing our children's lives. Then we will not get it by legislating those issues, we will get it when we lead those around us to Christ.

Then those things will not be happening, not because we won a "political victory" and they were made illegal, but because we have saved the soul of our people and they are walking in step with the Lord.

I'm not saying to not give voice to our concerns. But stop spending all of our money, time and effort on something that not only has little positive effect, but more to the point actually has a MASSIVE negative effect of turning more people off to the message of Christ.

Take all of that time, money and effort, and spend it on reaching the lost and see what amazing things God will do in this country.

If only 5% are bringing people, I promise you even fewer are actually verbally sharing their faith with the lost. And as a former pastor and someone whose "specialty" and passion is missions and evangelism I can assure you that is true.

Well I think a large part of the problem is that your average church goer, doesn't know how to witness to someone. A lot of the witnessing I see, even online, is rooted in apologetics, which is not the way to evangelize. That might convince someone that Jesus is a real person or that Christianity is true, but that does not fix their problem with God.

I'll be voting for Bob Barr on the Libertarian Party ticket, the only candidate I agree with on most issues.

Between McCain and Obama, I'm hoping for McCain to win... but my voting for him wouldn't help him. That's because my state (WA) is "deep blue", virtually certain to go for Obama no matter how I vote. That being the case, I can indulge my quixotic protest vote without helping Obama win.

I've used that strategy in many previous elections. On rare occasions, my state has been close enough to make me choose the "lesser evil" instead. On even rarer occasions, there's been a major party nominee I was actually for (Reagan in 1980; in 1984 he was obviously winning without my vote so I went Libertarian anyway).

I don't understand the whole concept. If someone is FOR McCain, why are they flashing images of Obama all over the place? Why not have "McCain/Palin" in your signature, or your avatar, or your bumper sticker, or anything else, instead of "Nobama" or something else snarky? And then calling the negative campaigning Christian? That's what I don't get.

What if he was the tie breaker when a mass number of them broke rank & voted AGAINST the ban! His vote helps KEEP partial birth going if others voted the other way.

You are to vote your belief/position - he voted his position and it's FOR partial birth abortion. So sorry but the facts ARE straight. This isn't the first time he's used this excuse to hide his agenda on abortion either.

He should of voted against PBA if he was against it. His other voting records additionally go to prove his embracing of abortion - this isn't just 1 isolated case; it also goes to who he refuses to fund which would HELP save children; but he'll have no part of that.

My old stompin' grounds. I grew up in Ohio and lived a good portion of my adult life there as well....Ohio and Florida...both swing states.

Now I'm in Texas so it's a no brainer which way this state will vote.

I'm also very interested to see how Ohio votes this election. I spoke with a friend in Ohio a few days ago...and she said OH is all about Obama...do you consider this a valid assumption or is it just the blitzkrieg campaigning that makes it appear so?
