My vote would definitely be John Wycliffe who first translated the Latin Scriptures into English under the firm conviction that all men should have access to the Word of God.

In Christ,
Pilgrimer

Middle English. Don't forget King Alfred the Great who began a translation into Old English.

But I second CryptoLutheran. Excellent list.

I concur with others though that St. Augustine of Hippo should take the title. Is there any trinitarian Christian group that does not hold his teachings in high regard?

Actually, yes.

Eastern Orthodox Christians do not because we disagree with some of his writings on original sin which later gave birth to purgatory. We believe in ancestral sin, but not original sin.

NOOOOOOOOOO

Okay, back to the drawing board...

Okay, darkhorse suggestion:

St. Perpetua

Lots of people don't like Constantine because they view him as the beginnings of corrupted Christianity.

St. Patrick because he allows us to get wasted and feel pious about it?
