*cough* Mere Apologetics *cough*You dislike a form of godliness that many religious people observe.
To say that I share the sentiment would be an understatement.
I have never been fond of cheap imitations, whatever form they take.
Thanks. That it is on your mind is a victory in and of itself.*cough* Mere Apologetics *cough*
I'd probably like it if I went now (especially if they went back to the old style); it was only being obliged to go that made it eventually pall.I like the robes, the incense, the hymns, and the carolsBut I agree entirely, a spoken English mass is a very poor substitute for a fully sung Latin mass.

I can understand that. I was raised without religion or atheism, so visits to churches/temples/mosques etc have been at my own volition, and mostly enjoyable. Apart from Protestant churches ... which I find deeply creepy. I have a soft spot for Catholic high mass, Thai Buddhist services, and Mosque prayers. Anything in which my heathen presence is welcome and unquestioned, and in which there is plenty of textured ritual.
Everything you said.Let me guess .... the 'deeply creepy' bit?
No worries. I always think of cheap imitations when it comes to your posts, whether here or there.Thanks. That it is on your mind is a victory in and of itself.
Why not? Will your assertions not be validated by their findings?I suggest a better way. If you want to know the truth, you don't have to wait for the publication of the findings of neuroscientists.
Proselytizing is inappropriate for this forum. If you care.God loves you and wants you to experience the joy and peace and assurance and hope that will sustain you as you go through life. He wants the best for you and is able to bring it about if that is what you want.
This sounds like an exercise in self-deception.Read the gospels as if God were speaking directly to you, and find yourself in what they say.
I seek an accurate description of reality. Will I get that from someone that has been dead for 2000 years, if he existed at all?In Christ, you will find the answers you seek.
And if they told you that the scripture is a lie, placed there by Satan to fool mankind? Again, how would you know who to trust?
None of which speaks to it being an accurate description of reality.I have found it trustworthy, not because it says it is, but because I tried it, many years ago, and over the years since it has been a source of inspiration, instruction, and hope.
He does look rather silly, doesn't he?I like your avatar by the way. I am sure Dr. Craig would be tickled to death by the fact that you have a picture of him as your avatar. ☺
I think it is where it makes claims about reality. I have good reasons to think it is and have none to think it isn't.None of which speaks to it being an accurate description of reality.

Of course. Is that not what every religionist says about their particular religion?I think it is where it makes claims about reality. I have good reasons to think it is and have none to think it isn't.
Indeed.I wouldn't say silly. Although I do think he can be quite funny at times when debating or teaching when he uses illustrations to show how ridiculous some arguments are.
Of course. Is that not what every religionist says about their particular religion?
I suppose the irony is lost on you at this point.
Everything you said.
And I think a great many people like yourself are simply deceived and are wrong even though they think they are right. You probably think the same of me and others who share views dissimilar to yours.
.
Except that, there is considerable evidence for many things theorised by science, which are dismissed by religionists.
And there is zero evidence for supernatural claims made by religionists. You're not even on the same playing field, much less an even one.
