I looked at REV 4, I am also stumped because it dosn't clearly say. The only specific name mentioned is the spirit.

Isaiah 6 stumps me as well. I'm right behind you asking that question John, can someone please explain it..Tall73 would be good, as he is a pastor!!!

Guys, have you been following the sanctuary study? The answer is in there.

If you're referring to the Table representing Christ's throne, I can accept that. But, in Revelation 4, the One who sits on the throne is He who holds the little book in His right hand. Only the Lamb (Christ) was worthy to take the little book and open it. Doesn't this indicate it is the Father who holds the book?

Isaiah 6 calls the One on the throne the "Lord of hosts" - which I always assumed refers to the Father.

Yes, agreed. And you have a more clear example in the vision in Daniel 7 of The Ancient of Days and the sepearate figure of the Son of Man coming on the clouds to Him.

The emphasis in John is that no one knows God, but God the Son reveals Him, having come from heaven, with intimate, first-hand knowledge, being God in human form.

The point is, He is the ultimate in God's self-revelation.

But, if (as it seems the Father being the One on the throne) - does this not contradict the fact that no human eye has ever seen the Father?

There are four beasts/seraphims around the throne. They represent the 4 characters of Christ.

But in reality all 3 persons of the Godhead are presented at the throne. But the Son is the manifestation of God.

Well, compare John 1:18 with these texts:
John 6:46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

JN 14:9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the Father'? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

JN 17:1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:

"Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

JN 17:24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

JN 17:25 "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
Jesus' emphasis throughout the book of John is on the fact that He came from the presence of God the Father and was sent to reveal the Father to us. We have seen the Father if we have seen Jesus.
