Actually, the reason the man does the asking is to allow the woman to have the final say. He might ask, but she's under no obligation to accept, thus the final say is really hers. Talk about power!

This is too often overlooked. It's true.

That's why. God told man to govern over women. That doesn't mean men are better, but it's our role to initiate and lead in the relationship.

If it's for a date, then it doesn't matter to me. If she thinks that my stuttering, sweating, nervousness and such is cute, then I guess I'll ask. :D However, I'd have no problems whatsoever if she were to just do so, especially if it was completely obvious that we both were crazy about each other. But sometimes I may want to be the initiator, so it all depends.

I prefer, in the initial stages of a relationship, for the male to do the asking. I have learned that if he can't ask me out on that first date, that shows alot about how the rest of the relationship will go. Now as the relationship progresses, I don't have any problem with suggesting dates or asking the fellow out on dates. But for me, it is important that the male take the first step. That just shows me that I am important enough to him for him to take the first step, no matter how uncomfortable, or perhaps risky, it may be. And I try to keep that in mind, even if I am not interested in dating him.

With me it really doesn't matter in dating who does the asking, but marriage is a different story. I would feel uncomfortable with a female asking me to marry her. I would probably say no, and as soon as she stood up, fall to one knee, and ask her. I just feel that things like are for a male to do not a female.

Guys simply are not used to it. We've been stereotyped into thinking that the man has to run the show. If you ask me, it's been just as much trouble for us as it has been for the women. How come I'm supposed to make all the decisions just because I'm the man? Why should we make God's perfect plan for marriage a sentence to do-this-do-that?

BTW, swap the words "man" and "woman" of your sig, and you almost have a one-sentence summary of how I became a Christian. :)
