the first time was intense. no joke.
i was a kid- about 14 and i was worldly. i got a cronic headache. sever.
no pills would cure it. it felt like a fever 24 / 7 and my parents disregarded it and me. it lasted for weeks. i was in so much pain that i started to sneak into the liquar just to find ways to sleep. eventually the thought over came me to jump out of the window (we lived on a two story building)..so all this is going on and no one believes me about the pain im in or how i stopped sleeping.

so one day a friend invites me to church and i decide to go..no big deal right? well during the sermon, the visiting pastor stops service and tells the room that God told him to stop and pray for TWO people that have a chronic headache.
no joke, the room started praying and i stayed in teh back thinking that there was no possible way for him to have been talking about me.
mean while a voice as dark and raspy as a hollywood vocal effect, tells me to leave the room , forget God and worship satan. it was clear as a bell, and the pain increased as the voice got louder

so one fella gets up and goes the the front , and i follow immediately. the pastor laid hands on me, and started to pray and all i remember is waking up on my back laughing. set free laughing without a care in the world. the youth was stunned thinking i was apart of the service, but it was real. The pastor told me after the fact that it was a demon causing me that pain. with that demon came the pain, sucidal thoughts and hopelessness. From that night on i took that walk seriously and got baptised the following week. they promised me that it would never happen again because Christ protects me.

ok.

fast forward another 10 years.
im in germany in the army. backslidden and not ashamed of it.
im in a bar with friends. we are all drinking and being ugly. there was easily 20 of us from base all over 3 tables..
ONE man , about 120 pounds walks up to our group with the boldness of a lion sits right down next to my friend and strokes his leg...we all laugh at our friend because the gay guy hit on him right?
well he turns and smiles at us, and his grin started out normal then creeped up toward his ear, with sharp jagged teeth. it was something like baraka from mortal kombat, or the faces from the movie the devils advocate.
When i saw it, immediately i excused it that i was drinking and made an excuse to leave the bar as fast as i could..i thought no one believed me or would so i rode home alone. when i got back to the room my friends privately asked me why his face did that and if i seen it...it scared me more because the reality was that it was real..and the friends of mine were so shook up that they actually held him and picked his pockets - idiots. i still talk to them today and one of hte friends is athiest..i have to remind him that was a sign not an attack ..and i use that as a reminder to witness to him

Who seen a demon? i have had at least 2 times in my life that encountered one.
once i was attacked
another i seen one manifest in a person.

what happened to you

Many, many times.

One of the more recent ones was when I was outside of a church I used to attend couple years ago. I was there alone before the service had started, outside reading my bible in my truck. I just had a notion to look up towards the front of the church doors and caught a glimpse of a decent sized black figure in front of the doors. It knew that I saw him and immediately took off away from the church and me, fast. I also noticed that it seemed to have little ones sort of following it, almost attached to it a way, so I just considered it a stronghold of sorts.

I bound it and cast it down in the name of Jesus and went back to reading my bible.

I guess I'll share something that has always made me curious.

Now first off, let me establish this was all a dream, so you can take it as you want. In the dream, I was in the living room of the house I'm in right now, with my family cat sitting beside me. Our St. Bernard (who we sadly had to put down some months after this dream occurred) was sleeping in the other room. I turn on the television, and began to watch something that was on. I won't say what, but suffice to say, I should not have been watching it if I was a good Christian man. The room is pitch black, save for the glow of the TV. I'm watching it a good while, when suddenly I hear a low voice say:

"You wicked, wicked man..."

My cat suddenly stands up, hisses like mad, and runs away - something he's never done (this cat has chased away foxes and raccoons!). Our St. Bernard starts barking from the next room. I turn and look in the direction of the voice. Slowly I begin to see a shadowy blob in the corner...and then I see two eyes reflected by the light, like the eyes of a cat at night.

That's when I woke up. Suffice to say, I was laying there a while, completely bewildered by what I had just seen.

I've read a bit on what the early Church Fathers said about dreams, and how if they are sensible and peaceful they are from God, but if wild and horrific they come from demons. It was most likely my subconscious and guilt regarding sin getting the better of me, but who knows - perhaps God granted me a brief vision of the spiritual world to give me a warning.

Only time (Lord willing) that I've encountered a demon was one night after I saw a midnight premier of The Village (not sure if that has anything to do with it). I got home and hit the sack around 3AM, woke up close to 4AM frozen stiff in fear, cold sweat all that stuff. At the same time I woke up my neighbors air conditioning unit shut off and made the creepiest most unearthly shriek that I've ever heard, and it had never made it before or since. I looked in the corner of my bedroom where my door was closed and saw a dark hooded figure standing just starring at me. Eventually I was able to utter Jesus' name and command it to leave and it sort of "whooshed" out of my window — as if it had dematerialized or something. To this day if I mention that story I get chills.

This was about 5-6 years ago, I thank the Lord that since then I've learned a lot about the power and authority we hold in His name.

well, when i was a boy i was laying in my bed and i was afraid for some reason. I was facing the window of my room and everybody was asleep. I saw a disgusting hand coming up from the side i was facing and it froze me stiff in fear. I wanted it to stop rising up because i was scared it would grab me so i instinctively rebuked it in jesus name and it left.

Another story is what a good friend of mine told me. My friend came home from work and was tired. He put his stuff down, called to see if anybody was home but got no reply. So he decided to slump onto his bed and he did just that. After he had jumped onto the bed and was laying on his tummy. He felt a yucky presence enter the room and immediately knew that something was wrong. He tried to get up but when he did he was pushed down onto the bed and couldnt move, he stayed like this for a while in shock. There was a yucky force keeping him compressed on the bed and it was really pushing him into it. My friend tried to yell but to no avail, he was completely drained of energy. All the while he could hear a terrible growling right next to his ear but was unable to turn around to see. He was very scared and began to say Jesus in his mind and then his power returned and was able to rebuke the beast in jesus name. It left him and he got up.

Lastly is a story that a thai exchange student told me. Basically the Holy Spirit urged me to ask strange questions to this friend i knew that gave me stranger answers. He told me how his family was into ancestral prayer and praying to spirits of the deceased along with other witchcraft matters. One time while he was sitting in his loungeroom playing playstation, he felt a yucky presence enter the room so he paused his game. Then he felt something grab his left arm. He turned his head to the left and came face to face with a demon, which was in the form of a hindu god, which he had sitting on the windowsill as a statuete. It also gave him a big smile that reached all the way up its face with disgusting teeth. needless to say, he ran outside of the room screaming his head off and told his mother, who blew it off as nothing. I still remember the look he gave me when he was telling me this story, he was so afraid. He told me "the smile was the most disgusting thing i ever saw, i never want to see it again" He told me some other stuff too, im just glad i told him about our lord and saviour JESUS because nobody should have to live in such fear.

one time definitely saw one when was talking to someone about the love of God and we were opening the Bible and they kinda sat back and the demon sat forward and just sat there looking at me, I wasnt afraid as God has just freed me and it just made sense that this person had one so I kept going as the demon being shown was confirmation I was on the right track with this person. I was new to the things of God and alone and perhaps should have cast it out but didnt think about it at the time.

There have been numerous occasions where there have been visitations at night, once tried to strangle me, bed shaking, noises that scared me one night and took a lot of time praying and reading the word of God for those to leave and peace to come. Presences standing by my bed and in the corner of the room. Other things too and dreams, numerous dreams. Sometimes I can say Jesus and sometimes I have to really struggle to get free and say Jesus so it will stop. It always stops in Jesus Name.

A door slammed once one night and a demon came rushing down the hallway into my room and I could feel its presence against my back, could hardly speak to say Jesus but when fought through that there was an incredible sense of peace and calm and reassurance that God was there.

Since God freed me its not so often, Praise God! Such things havent happened for a while, though recently I also had something pressing me into the bed.

I would not say I am a strong Christian by any means and I am glad that stuff is mostly in the past but God has definitely shown His power and glory in freeing me. He is a very compassionate and powerful God. the One True God.

I am fortunate in that while there has been fear it has not been overwhelming, God is merciful and knows what we can handle and what we cant.

It is important to focus on the things of God and on His love for us and for others because God is the One with true power and authority and loves His kids very much.

I've encountered them during my own prayer times. There was one apparition which I thought to be God, but upon examination turned out to be an evil spirit. It became extremely oppressive to me, and I never questioned it because I assumed it to be God, but it was exposed eventually.

I wonder how many of them appear to people as 'angels of light' and are never exposed, but continue to be deceive through out their lifetimes.

Last year, I was able to break away from this forum for about 6 to 8 months. Suddenly, one day I got a wee bit curious and popped on only to see a thread between two people arguing with each other, because both have seen Jesus personally and frequently, who taught them many things.

But the catch was that these personal Jesus's contradicted one another, but both contradicted the scriptures. I read this rather lenghtly series of posts and what amazed me even more is that no one here, pastors included, ever broke into the conversation and pointed out that not only would Jesus not contradict Himself, making at least one of them seeing a counterfeit spirit, but He would also not contradict His word, making them both seeing counterfeit spirits.

Well, I said something and was promptly turned on by those on that thread and even a few others as a result. Fast forward about another 8 months and here we are.

Are you doing ok, brother?

I have found that one person's personal experience rarely compares well with another's. I think we as human must filter the information according to our own beliefs and expectations, and by the time we are telling it to other people it has changed quite considerably. Also, things that happen on a spiritual plane are really hard to put into words spoken in the physical. There is a serious problem with our means of communicating them.

I don't fashion doctrines and foundations for myself based upon my experience. Well, sometimes I do, but not until after thinking, praying, and considering godly precedence. Only God can help me discern what is worth gleaning from spiritual experience, when it comes to how I live my earthly life!

Someone not able to accurately re-tell their spiritual experience, or keep it within our understanding of scripture, does not exclude God from being the one to originate it! Many things happen to us in the natural on a day to day basis. Our inability to relate these happenings in pure, undefiled Christianese does not mean God didn't have His hand in what transpired. We could even give the credit for what God did to Satan or another pagan god, but if God did it perhaps eventually we will see the truth. It doesn't automatically make the experience bad, just our perception of it.

The enemy knows you far better than you know yourself. He knew every single weakness, how to exploit it, knew where I was naive, and made something that, to my own liking, was a perfect messenger of light. Though, one day that spirit will answer for impersonating God. It's on my own head that I did not take the time to discern.

I stay up late at night and listen via the internet to a program called Coast to CoastA.M. I have heard people call in and give accounts of things exactly like what you guys have posted about in this thread. So it HAS to be real if it's happening to so many people. But my question is, why do some experience this and not others? (Not that I ever care to!!!):eek::eek:

In my experience as a general rule, people experience these attacks for two main reasons. 1. they are powerful spiritually and in a strong relationship with God and are breaking down a lot of the devils barriers, hence they become a bigger target. 2. People open themself up to these attacks through "invitation by actions".

I often wonder that when I hear people talk about meeting angels - especially if the angels tell them really weird things or claim to speak for God. I mean let's face it...how many false religions and cults have been started by men who claimed to have met angels?

I'm more concerned for people who are scared of angels, because they think talking to one of them will lead them into deception! I mean, come on! Isn't God big enough to blow through all the tactics of the enemy? Will He leave us as orphans, unable to distinguish between that which is of Him, and that which isn't? It's our hearts which lead us astray; which make us want to hear what the enemy has to say about sin and how to get away with it. Surly you can tell the difference between sin and not sin, can you not? There was a time when Jesus purposely listened to Satan's temptations; doing so by mistake is not a life or death situation!

When God speaks, I do pay attention. Why, because He interests me. Others just ramble on about whatever.

Very much like well meaning Christians do when they try to explain their private understandings of scripture, and how important it is to do blah blah blah... They too present themselves as "angels of light"; yet do not speak the words of God. They are only dangerous if we take everything they have to say without question.

Well, there's good fear of angels. I mean let's face it, whenever someone encountered an angel in scripture, usually one of the first things out of the angel's mouth was, "Don't be afraid." Other times the person (like the apostle John) is so overcome that they fall prostrate and have to be told to worship God alone. A person should neither fear (as in "Oh no get away!") nor automatically accept an angel, but be discerning.

On that note, you are right that a person should be able to discern sin from not sin, and thereby recognize the wiles of the enemy. The problem is (let's face it) few people these days are able to. Some are of the mindset that a visit by an angel is automatically good, not realizing the possibility of deception is very real. Just as many are so unfamiliar with the teachings of scripture that deception comes easy. There's a quote from the Philokalia, credited to Peter of Damascus, that comes to mind: "There is nothing astonishing in the fact that the devil assumes the form of 'an angel of light' (II Cor. 11:14), for the thoughts that he sows in us also appear to be righteous when we lack experience."
