And yet, the Orthodox Church is still there in the Holy lands maintaining the Christian faith. I'd say we've been pretty successfully defending both given what we've been up against.

Historical revisionism is ugly no matter who participates in it.

The Orthodox asked the Pope for a Crusade and then refused to fight alongside their brothers from the west.

And the refusal of the Orthodox to defend the faith.

The Orthodox Church refused to join in the Crusades to defend the Holy Lands and the Christian faith.

So do you think God wanted Constantinople to be ruled by Muslims?

How about Antioch?

Was this a result of the rebellion of some Eastern Bishops?

Wow, you really have run out of steam. Now you have resorted to historical revisionism.

When you say "the faith," you mean that which is defined by the Pope at Rome. Of course, the Eastern Orthodox are to be condemned because they did not defend the filioque et al., which the soldiers of the Fourth Crusade so benevolently brought to Constantinople in 1203-1204. Such audacity!

Also, I guess it counts as "refusal to defend the faith" when the technically Roman Catholic emperors John VIII and Constantine XI Palaiologos desperately pleaded with the Papacy to send aid and all they received in return was a small ship full of moldy bread and a couple disgruntled pikemen.

Wait, there is more! It must also count as "refusal to defend the faith" when Jesuit "missionaries" reported Orthodox peasants to the Ottoman authorities to be butchered when they did not accept their opportunistic proselytizing.

When? Which crusade? Who asked?
