Who is Jesus?

• no one can come to Christ unless the Father has enabled them;
• all who are enabled will come to him;
• all who come, Jesus will receive and will lose none,

If the Spirit of Christ is in you, and you are in Christ, you are a Christian. Without the Spirit of Christ, man is dead spiritually (Eph 2:1-5); he hates the truth and Jesus Christ (John 3:19-21); dwells in darkness (John 1:4-5); has an uncircumcised heart of stone (Ezek 11:19); is helpless (Ezek 16:4-6); cannot repent (Jer 13:23); is a slave to Satan (Acts 26:17-18); cannot see or comprehend divine truth (1 Cor. 2:14; cf. A Christian is, as you said, someone who believes Jesus is God, and worships him. I don't know why you don't want to be called a Christian, but you have to put that reason behind you.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, made man to save us. I am sure you realize man is not perfect, due to Adam and Eve's first sin. We needed someone to come and save us so we can obtain Heaven. God promised to send His a Savior. He sent His only Son, Jesus, who died for us. During His life on earth, he let the blind see, the deaf hear, the dead live, and He fed multitudes with 5 loaves of bread and two fish. Then He was captured by the pharisees and beaten and crucified. On the 3rd day He rose from the dead.
Many followers of Jesus Christ have had miracles happen to them. St. Bernadette found a spring that still heals millions of people. Blessed Jacinta's body never decayed, St. Sebastian could not be killed by arrows, and so much more.

The only way to obtain Heaven is through Jesus Christ. He is waiting for you with open arms, waiting for you to come running to Him for help. He is here to comfort us and hold us by the hand, for His way is hard, but rewarding.

I will explain to you now that Jesus Christ is the one and only God.
But first, I want to show you some verse in the old testament.
We know that God the Father was speaking in old testament. Right?

isiah 43: 10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour
God is the only saviour. There is no Gods beisde him. This same God in isiah 43:10-11, came in the flesh.

now lets look at other verses in the BIBLE.

Jesus Christ cleary claimed to be God. Anybody who has read the New testament can cleary see that Jesus is God.
John 8

Like it or not people trinity states there are THREE god.
lets state the tirnity doctrine:
One God that indwells in,

1. God the father- seperate person
2. God the son- seperate person
3. God the holy spirit- seperate person

The trinity states that each person in the Godhead is seperate. The trinity doctine also states that each person is God. So if each person is God and they are sperate, then they are three sperate Gods!
this is the falling away, like it or not. The falling away started in 325 ad.

According to the bible Jesus's name is, the mighty God ,everlasting Father. it does not say traits it says his names, titles.

i was just thinking about your quote that jesus is God. this really seems confusing to me, what do you think?

i mean dosen't jesus so often say that he can't don anything without his father in heaven, and he always says he is God's son. i mean if you just read the entire book of matthew from start to finish, you would never think that jesus was God

do you think that normal christians could be wrong?

Read John from cover to cover as well. The four gospels exist in the New Testament as the 4 pillars of the Chruch. Each gives a different vantage pointof Christ's ministry.

To generalize, the book of Matthew present Jesus as King, the Branch of David, or, in other words, the highest earthly position possible. His royal geneology is presented from Abraham.

The book of Mark present Jesus as God's servant, without any geneology of any kind being presented for such a lowly position.

The book of Luke stretches the geneology back to Adam and here Jesus is presented as a man, the New Adam, the perfect ideal we strive to be.

The book of John, without geneology as befitting the Creator, presents Jesus as God Himself, the great I AM that exists before Abraham, and the Word through which the world is created. The seven-fold spirit of God is set forth with Jesus' seven-fold proclamation of being:
I am the Bread of Life; I am the Vine; I am the Door; I am the Good Shephard;I am the Way; I am the Light; I am the Life and the Resurrection.

These are all claims that only Jehovah could make for Himself.

Whether or not this is what a normal Christian believes, and even if extraordinary Christians may believe to the contrary, Scripture as a whole is very clear on who Jesus is.

Jesus is man, and God and sacrifice.

It's always possible that "normal Christians" are wrong. This forum isn't to debate what is correct or not correct, but simply to answer questions about what Christians believe.

Jesus was very vague about himself. In the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) Jesus never refers to himself as God or son of God. Usually he refers to himself as son of Man. Maybe the people of the time knew exactly what that meant, but if so the meaning got lost pretty quickly and we sure don't.

The gospel of John is different and has the references Shawn has indicated where Jesus calls himself God, or used the "I am" identifier of God. Interestingly, Shawn doesn't have any references from any of the Pauline letters. If Jesus revealed himself as God to Paul, Paul didn't pass the word along.

The early Christians had many different ideas about exactly who Jesus was and what his relationship to God was. Some of them were derived from the verses you mention: showing that Jesus depended on God to work his miracles and that he was a servant of God. Many of those early ideas survive in Christian sects in the Mideast -- Gnostics, Nestorians, etc. Eventually Christians reached a consensus -- after a LOT of arguing -- that Jesus was fully human and fully divine. As part of that arose the idea of Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit.

From St Paul:
"Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and Our Savior, Jesus Christ." (Titus 2:13)
Saint Paul is referring here to the second coming of Christ in "glory," in contradistinction to His first coming in humility and meekness. The "great God" and "our Savior" are both predicated to the same Person, Jesus Christ.

The criteria for the establishment of the canon ot the New Testament was based on those writings which were the earliest, the most widespread, and the most universally believed by all followers of the Way. Heretic and heterodox teaching have always abounded as people have sought to reinterpret the good news of Christ according to thier own biases. Nevertheless, in spite of this, Christian orthodoxy expecially about the nature of Christ, or who Jesus is, has prevailed even up to the present day.

well basically you just need to read the bible probly at least 15 minutes a day. it always helps you learn at least something. i became a christian when i was 7 years old. i didnt quite understand the whole thing till i was like 10 years old, and i went to a christian church every single sunday. anyways basically you just need to believe he is the king of all kings and when you have prayed a prayer to Jesus personally you can get baptised at any church or friends church if you feel like you need to talk about it wrather then talking to your parents about it (if u dont feel like telling them thats fine, just go to any church or friends church and they can help you with all your questions and prayer requests you need.)

If one is not sure Jesus is real ,and who he said He is ,why should they be so hesitant to yeald to Him ,unless they actually do believe ,and are actually afraid of the comittment ?Let's see I am asking the God who made me ,who has my best interests at heart to become part of my life ,for His guidance both in this life and in the life to come .Boy that is a really tough question . Let's see I'd have to give up my false ideas about God ,behavours that are offensive to Him which also are distructive to my self,Walk in the freedom of the security of God's backing in my life ,and be unchained to the pier pressure of those who don't realy love me any way .Oh and be connected to a family of believers ,who can be identified by their love with no strings but the centeral relationship with God . Boy this is getting tough .And here is the clincher , I have to ask,and be honest , Because God is fully aware of what is in my heart .
Personally ,I am 54 years old and I asked Jesus into my heart at age seven .He still teaches me and is mercyful to my humanity and gives me counsil in every day life . I see His innervention almost every day ,as well as answers to prayer .Healings as well as financial blessing ,the husband of one wife still going thirty years .
The only thing stopping you from being a powerful person with God is You .

Scholars that study the Gospel of John in its original language, and even non-christian scholars that understand the Gospel of John to be a direct refutation of Gnostic denial of Christ's divinity, do not think these claims are symbolic.
Just in terms of the story itself, the pharisees who tried to stone Jesus for the blasphemy of His claims to divinity, also did not understand Him to be speaking symbolically either.
The belief that Jesus is the second person of the Divinity is a basic part of the Nicene code, which we Christians have all ascribed to believing to be true, and is a condition for posting answers in certain ares of Christian Forums.

Who is Jesus? The gospels give us a picture of a real person who lived on earth for a period. That picture is as accurate as any other historical record, as judged by any accepted standard of historical authenticity. When we read to Gospels we must come to one of three conclusions about Jesus.

1. He was a nice man. But a nice man does not point out in very strong terms where some people are wrong. Nor does a nice man invite people to put their complete trust in him for this life and the next if that trust cannot be well founded. he would be leading people into a false hope. Not very nice at all.

2. He was deluded, some kind of psychiatric case. What would we think of a man who claimed to be God?

3. He was who he said he was - the most complete revelation mankind has of the truth about God and how to relate to him. He based these claims on three strands:

a) The Old Testament record that contained scores of direct references to him that were amazingly detailed

b) His words (his audiences recognised his authority when he spoke) and his deeds (the many miracles that accompanied him wherever he went)

c) His death and subsequent resurrection. A later Christian writer, Paul, bluntly stated that "if Christ has not risen from the dead our faith is in vain". What Paul meant was that, apart from the unique event of his being raised from the dead Jesus would be no more than just another prophet/teacher, and a deluded or insane one at that! He lived, then died. End of story.

Very simply and powerfully, Jesus IS God.

When u accept the Lord Jesus into your heart, you are telling him that you believe he died and rose again from our sins. We have to have faith in the death of Christ. Every single human being deserves death in Hell. Christ died to save us from going to hell. If you dont accept him, you will go to the big underworld place of hell. No, I believe once youve accepted christ than you are a christian. Christians also mess up One last thing, I learned in my s.s. class that there are religions in the U.S. that claim they are a religion because they worship false idols. For instance atheists and secular areas. I havent seen Passion yet, but that will prolly help. sorry so long
