• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Statrei, are you Adventist?

I have the same icon as "NeverADullMoment".

If I could change it to the Adventist one I would but am not up on computers enough at this stage to do that.

It comes up as "Christian Seventh-day Adventist"

I am sure anyone can at least do that to their profile.

you should be able to change it on that first page of your "profile". There's a place where you mark your denomination there.

Hang on....let me go check and see if I can do it before I tell someone else to, lol.

 Takes foot out of mouth...I checked and I didn't see where you can change it on that page....I suggest asking or pm'ing either PaleHorse or TrustAndObey...if anyone knows where and how to change it, Pale does.

That is, if you really want the SDA icon. If not, forget I said anything. lol

you have to Pm a mod to change it. Thanks. Oh BTW Stormy if you felt i was attacking you i wasn't. The rules state non-SDA are not to debate. GOD bless. I also commun with non-SDA...WE are ALL equal in Christ Jesus sight. AMEN

Thank you Jonathan. I found everything that was on there when I first signed up, BUT denomination. So I figured you had to go through a mod to do it, but didn't want to give him wrong info AGAIN. :o lol

TrustAndObey is right, the rules do state you need to have your Adventist hat on, to "discuss" issues on this thread.

I think we would all do well to follow this simply so that we can be sure that we know who we are talking to. I do have a question about this though. Is there any method of verifying somones faith? For example is there anything to prevent somone from diplaying SDA, Catholic, Baptist, or whatever icon they want just so they can more easily debate a particular group?

No, unfortunately there isn't. The only way to tell is if someone agrees with the fundamental beliefs of a church, but maybe disagrees with subjects that aren't fundamental. When someone obviously has a problem with the fundamental beliefs of a church you have to wonder WHY they're in it. They made that choice, we didn't.

Me....yes I am adventist (baptized at 9), as were my parents, and their parents (on my father's side), and their parents (paternal great grandmother), who knew egw and kellogg and other pioneers... My great grandmother was Lottie C. Blake who was a medical missionary doctor, the 1st black adventist woman to be a medical missionary doctor. Kellogg helped finance some of her education so its told... I went through adventist grade school, academy and college. In fact studied religion/theology in college. So yes, I am more adventist than many can "boast." As an adventist I have earned the right to ask any question I want regarding adventism...

I find it interesting that I have been here less than a week and because I have chosen not to use the adventist icon I have been accused of being a non-adventist...... and I suspect if I had not said anything at some point some would have gotten rude...

So let me ask, are we that concerned about symbols that we cannot be kind? If I were just a christian seeking answers and clarification is this the impression you would want me to remember? As I said before in another thread, the old adventists had no problem discussing, dissecting, and re-evaluating their beliefs.... we seem to shy away from that and just want to confirm what we believe.... the questions I have asked are questions that any thinking person would ask...

What are we afraid of? And what prevents us from being kind?

Just some things to think about... in my opinion....

And I thought not wearing my Adventist Icon made me unique.......;)

All interesting but irrelevant. Paul has you beat by a long shoot and he calls it dung. So, your conclusion doesn't follow from the flawed premises.

Truth would have answer, if I was wrong.
you are wrong. If you looked at when this thread was started, and what I was being accused of at the time, then the thread makes sense.... at that time there were those here accusing me of not being an adventist and questioning my right to even question adventism....

I want to thank whoever resurrected this thread. When the polls started going up I told my sister she needed to come here and vote, but she couldn't remember her username. She could remember what her password was tho.

I found her in this thread. I started reading and thought to myself "that sounds like something my sister would say. Wait, that was my sister."
