It is impossible to reach Christian beliefs independently so someone must have shown you how to be a Christian at some point. So I ask who was it that introduced you to Christianity? How old were you? and in what kind of environment did you accept Christianity? namely was it heavy Christian, neutral, or hostile to Christianity?

My parents: I was raised in the church. Many people have been influential in my spiritual growth, especially a former pastor, Barbara Caine, who taught me that you do not have to take a stance in nasty public debates in order to be a Christian- just love, and be loved by others. It was very important to me at the time, as I transitioned between a very fundamentalist christian school, and a mostly atheist college situation.

It was my mother initially, however I rejected it back then. My true acceptance came from the love of my girlfriend, who is now my fiance. :) I was 28 and it was a fairly heavy Christian environment at her parents place, but when we were together it was quite neutral. In fact she drifted far from God when I was a non-believer. Recently God has pulled us back to Him as we begun seeking His name again, and it's wonderful. :)

I grew up around the presence of God I used to wake up and my mom was lifting up God and singing in the Spirit in the morning time, and went to church occasionally, but of course for a while the preacher preaches a message and you feel like you wanna make a change but satan sometimes chokes the word out of you and you forsake what you heard, and thats what I did back then.. it took a divine touch from God to truely bring me back and to be reached from darkness into light, my sister was serving God pretty strong around the time I got saved, so pretty much in-between neutral and heavy christianity I grew up around,
GOD BLESS YOU IN JESUS NAME Amen

My parents were a great example of christian faith.

I did grow up in a christian home. I was not baptised until I was around 9 or 10 years old. I went through hot and cold spells throughout my christianity. My parents, as I said, were my foundation as to what living a christian life was like. It wasn't until I hit 21, married, living away from my family before I realized that I needed to depend on God. He has guided me through some tough times and I have grown in my walk with God.

Who showed me how to be a christian? Everyones experiences are a little different. Remember, its a spiritual experience and its not a psychological by feelings only or brainwashing via programs. Thus, its not a manmade experience but truly supernatural.

I had a very deep spiritual hunger and felt black, void and intensely grim inside. I knew the Bible was true but didn't know how to "unlock" it and read it with understanding as it was chinese to me at the time. Its a spiritual book and can't be understood without the Holy Spirit.

So, I asked this coworker and she told me what I needed. I wanted to know what church today really teaches the doctrine once given to the saints and that I wasn't interested in the denomination dance. Then I attended a church repented of my sins, received the Holy Spirit and the rest is history. I started understanding the Bible and the words jumped off the pages. No one had formally taught me yet but I just absorbed it. After this fact, I did attend a bible study later.

The rest is history and its 30 years later. I continually grow in Christ. It is exciting and never stops.

My mother was christian and made us go to Sunday School when we were little (ages 5 - 12). I didn't mind it but my brothers and sister, still to this very day, say it turned them off christianity. In my early teens I got right away from the church and it wasn't until my mid twenties that a person here, and a person there would say some little thing which would get me thinking. Then I was confronted continually with my own sin, it was pointed out to me from within.. not by the church or any person. At the same time I found myself focussing on God, and Jesus in particular. I devoured the bible, not understanding what I was reading, but felt compelled to read it anyway ( I can read it with understanding now..:) ), and soon I found myself responding to God with a big 'YES.. 'I will commit my life to You'... and this happened at home, on my own, no other person, and no church organisation involved at all.

A High School friend I hadn't seen for a while.

How old were you?

21

and in what kind of environment did you accept Christianity?

He initially shared the gospel with me in his home. I went to church with him the following Sunday, and made my profession of faith in Christ there.

namely was it heavy Christian, neutral, or hostile to Christianity?

Well, I thought it was "heavy Christian," being that it was a church.:)

I grew up on army bases and at boarding school. We had to go to church every week - which I thought was OK, but it didn't mean anything.
At about 17 or 18, I began to feel the presence of God in my life - I wasn't a Christian, but I knew there was "something there".
At 18 I spent a term living alone in a town I didn't know.
I went to church because I thought I might meet some nice people there.
The first time I went, the minister preached a gospel message, and it suddenly all made sense to me.
So I went home and asked Jesus to take control of my life and show me how to live.
Which He has been doing ever since - though I don't always listen!

I suppose my environment at the time was fairly neutral - none of my family were Christians, but none were anti-christian.
