Back when I was only a singer for our praise n worship team, I would lift my hands and I could feel the spirit of God move greatly! Now that I play piano and sing I can still feel Him, but it takes more effort on my part because I can't lift my hands, and I must do it by my attitude or worship and by playing with feeling. I also speak in tongues, and it is great to draw closer to God!

I never raise my hands when I worship, that just isnt my form of worship, I normally dont sing either. Being a Christian means you wont fit in, even at your own church! So if raising your hands is your way of worship, awesome. But I find that just listening to the words, and praying while the song continues on is enough for me to feel the joy and compassion of God inside of me. I do sing to songs, but only if I make the connection with it, I don't sing just to sing, and try not to sing because others around me are.

raising my hands during worship is great and yeh i pray in tongues. It helps me to focus on God and not on what my friends are doing, cus yeh I am kinda young and everyone does tend to mess around occasionally but I find if i raise my hands and stuff I dont get so distracted.

Worship is to be free... do what ever makes you feel happy and at ease. Raising your hands is an act of surrender...saying "Daddy" here I am....
AW!! AMEN TO THAT!! I always told people that raising your hands is just like....I surrender my life to You, Lord. I'm getting so excited just speaking of the Holy Spirit..

Let me tell you, I used to go to a Pentacostal church and they are WORSHIPPERS!! Oh man, I spoke in tounges for the first time at that church, and we do this thing called SHOUT where people get so consumed in their worship that they are doing 360's and jumping around shouting. :)

I personally, LOVE IT LOVE IT!! I love just feeling like you are literally ON FIRE when you open your heart to Jesus..Its like, just you and God. I cry everytime. EVERYTIME!!! I can't seem to NOT cry.

Is that weird? I think I cry too much..hee, hee!

The church that I go to with my dad now, they are too shy to stand up and lift their hands...I think I'm gonna break the ice one day and just stand alone. Maybe people will join in with me.

Yall, KEEP STAYIN' ON FIRE FOR CHRIST!! This is awesome. We need to all get together one day.. LOL

God bless

I hate to rain on you guys parade... but, well, i'm about to. :\

Acts 2
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
I'm sure some of you guys might be practicing this way, but I doubt that most of you are from the way you're talking. I've seen many people speak in tongues and claim for it to be a religious/spiritual act of worship, but I don't see it. Why? I don't see what this does to glorify God. UNLESS, it's in the situation described in acts; there's a speaker and an interpreter. This is the only way possible for it to glorify God, IMHO.

I don't, by any means, want to tell anyone how to worship, I'd just like to know why you guys think that speaking in tongues is an act of worship. And how do you do it? Is it just gibberish? Or are you actually saying something that someone has before understood in their language?
