White House communications staff has had to correct President Joe Biden’s public remarks at least 148 times since the beginning of 2024, a review of official White House transcripts shows.
The White House releases an official transcript anytime the president gives a speech or takes questions. Communications staff frequently correct, add to or alter Biden’s official remarks in order to either bring them into compliance with official White House policy or, in some cases, reality, a Daily Caller analysis showed. In several cases, official statements had to be changed to convey the exact opposite of what Biden actually said.
Through 118 statements, speeches and chats with reporters spanning from Jan. 1 to April 24, the White House has officially updated its transcript with corrections to what the president said out loud at least 148 times.
Some of the modifications include corrections to names, dates and titles of organizations. Others change verbs and modify the meaning of the president’s statement entirely. Words that the president didn’t say, but should’ve, according to the White House staff, have also been added to the transcripts.

Yeah. And?

Working for a business conference firm, we generally use the 'speech as written' not 'speech as delivered' in our transcripts. We only use live transcript when we don't get a pre-written script or there was an interview, panel discussion or debate.

Speaking as someone who gives public talks as part of my job, missing a word or two or getting a name wrong even in prepared remarks is totally normal. A few weeks ago, when talking to university students, I missed a whole chunk of the talk and just pressed on anyway.

You should read the article. Many of the "corrections" aren't simply missed words or wrong names. The "correction" sometimes changes the entire meaning of what Biden said.

It is not "totally normal" that in 118 instances, there have been 148 "corrections".

I did. It's making molehills out of ant mounds.

These are nitpicks, at best.

It is normal.

People who speak in public often, often make mistakes.

Are they? Let's look at one of the more egregious "corrections".

“It was then, through no — through my American Rescue Plan — which every American [Republican] voted against, I might add — we made the largest investment in public safety ever,”

This isn't a "correction". It's changing what Biden actually said.

But, we know what he meant, amirite? I guess that's good enough, even if he can't seemingly make it through a single speech or statement without countless "corrections".

If I'm not mistaken, today is the 141st day of the year. So Biden needs to be corrected around once every day? That does sound like a lot to me.

Today is indeed day 141 of 2024. But the article only included comments through April 24, which was the 114th day of the year. So 148 "corrections" in 114 days certainly is a lot, no matter what anyone tries to tell you.

I have listened to many of his talks.
He has a thorough command of the facts.
He has goals, plans, direction.
His clear priorities are helping the American people.

Best of all, he never insults or demean others.
He leaves Hannibal Lector and other oddities out.
He doesn't incite hatred of immigrants or other minorities.
He shows kindness, compassion and respect.

So what if he makes one gaffe a day? He is the only candidate out there grounded in facts and reality.

If Joe Biden has a clear command of the facts, then I suppose my ears are lying to me. If Joe doesn't insult and demean people, then maybe my own two eyes and ears were not being honest with me when I watched and heard him demean MAGA conservatives, as well as conservatives in general, more than a few times.

How do you know that it's not normal? Yes, it sounds like a high number, but has the Daily Caller done analyses of corrections from past administrations?

I guess I am just comparing his speeches to his competition--50% insult and 50% demagoguery.

Biden insults even his own supporters. He referred to that one guy as "Fat" - he didn't call him fat - he referred to him as if his name was "Fat" - and we all remember the "lying dog face pony soldier" and how people that vote for Trump aren't Black.

But they happen so infrequently that it's easy to miss them. On the other hand, in a few dozen five minute speeches in front of the Manhattan County Courthouse, Biden's opponent cast out more insults than Biden has mentioned in his entire 3 1/2 years (so far) as president---perhaps more than in Biden's entire 50 year political career.

He badly needs a thesaurus to give him more appropriate terms than the ones he uses. Knowing some socially acceptable synonyms would help him clean up his act.

Did I awaken this day to be in the Universe where Joe Biden hasn’t been a walking gaff-machine for the past 40 odd years?

No?

Wow, since there’s so many you should totally trot out a few of these inappropriate (and ribald) comments.

(Politicians (In general) and Presidents, (in particular), tend to be “opinionated” people, that’s their stock-and-trade. Of course someone is going to disagree with his views, that’s what they’re there for, to add contrast to the views a politician (or President) espouses.)

You know, “normal”.

We’ve never had a person, woman, man, camera, TV, with dementia as President, before.
