According to James 5:7-8 we need to be exercising patience. In the NKJV it reads thus: "Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand."

Yes, the farmer must be patient. As a gardener, whose parents and grandparents were farmers, I know that there is also much to do while you are waiting patiently for your crop. You must see that your crops are cared for with water and fertilizer, and you must work the soil and keep it verified. You must hoe it and keep the weeds and pests out, and then in due time you will reap what you have sown.

In like manner we must keep our hearts in right standing. We must keep it filled with love and forgiveness, and compassion not only for our brethren but for the lost also. We must keep it fed and aerated with His Word and Holy Spirit. And we must keep out the weeds, the garbage spewed by the Prince of the Air.

We must be careful to love and care for one another as Jesus commanded us over and over, and we must also pray for one another. And pray for one another without ceasing.

In James 5:16, a very familiar passage, we are told: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." What does effectual mean? Effectual =unceasing!

Again in I Timothy 5:17 we are told to pray without ceasing.

We must establish our hearts, and be Patient! And PRAY WITHOUT CEASING!
