  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

there is no good translation in your own language?

The NIV is very close to being a paraphrase, also. I would try to stick to the NIV, if not try to read NAS (New American Standard). Paraphrase versions are not very good, because it is like a commentary. I want to read the Bible, not someone's interpretation.

I was trying to post to this thread last night, but lost my Internet connection.

I was going to recommend the NLT myself. I think the NAS (although I prefer that myself) is a bit difficult.

Although since Chinese is your first language, why not get a Chinese/English Bible? You can see one at Amazon -- go to http://www.amazon.com and type 9622937772 in the search box.

We used these English/Chinese Bibles when I was on a summer mission trip in Macau.

I'd recommend a bilingual Bible for you since neither your Chinese nor your English is the best right now and if you ran into a problem you could look at the Scripture in the other language. That might really help at the moment. :)

If you want an English only Bible, the New Living Translation is what I recommend. Its close to the orignal manuscripts, too. :)
