  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I currently have an iPhone 4. Its battered and scratched and the home button is dying on me.

I can upgrade soon, so am thinking of leaving the iPhone and trying something different.

At the moment, I am looking at the Samsung Galaxy SIII and the new Blackberry Z10..

Do you have one of those - would you recommend one over the other?

I have a Mac, so it needs to work easily with that.

I don't have the S3, but I *do* have the S2, and it is a wonderful phone.

Can't speak for how it would work with a Mac, as I'm a PC gal myself. My PC did recognize it (until the HD decided to crash on me, that is!).

The iPhone is a wonderful phone and works beautifully with your Mac. If you have bought stuff from iTunes, could be better to stick with Apple. S3 or BB will take you into a new environment...which can also be exciting...depending on how you see it. In my family, we have Apple, Samsung, LG & BB users. All are happy users.

The Galaxy S4 comes out later this month which is what I'm upgrading to.

A few things to consider:
Do you like the OS? Go to the store and use it for a little bit so you get a feel for how it works and navigates.
The hardware. You want hardware that will still run well after the first year of a two year contract is up.

I own an HTC right now and I can say I will never buy another one again. Mainly this is because HTC is a company in which the word "flagship" means nothing. They promote a product much like the new HTC One coming out, then as soon as it is released, they start working on the next "big thing" that isn't updating their current phones or looking at how they can expand on that phones brand which means people who bought that phone are left in the dark. Never again.

The Galaxy 4 is coming out in a few weeks. The big difference is the bigger screen compared to the Iphone. Also they say the apps are more affordable for the Galaxy. The screen is closer to 5 inches compared to the Iphone 4 inch screen. They plan to sell 5 million a month of the new Galaxy phone. Also the new phone will have the hand over and the eye contact features. You do not even have to touch the screen to control some of the features. They may be on the road from smart phones to super phones. I just never thought you would be able to see a photo of the person your talking to like you can now a days. Dick Tracy had his fancy watch phone 50 years ago. But I never thought it would happen.
