A bit of off-topic trivia: The French word for “Help me” is m’aider. The English pronunciation is close to “mayday.” Which is how the word became a distress call.
Yes, true enough.
One of the things that make languages interesting.

If the choices are limited to those listed in OP, I’ll definitely go with New Year’s Day. It means I made it through another year.
Such polls are always limited in their options.
Else there should have been 365 or 366 options or even more. :)

As a kid, I hated New Year’ Day. It meant the end of Christmas break and I’d have to go back to school. With no more holidays until Easter break. Which back then was only Good Friday and the Thursday before it. (This was public school, btw.). In some ways, it was more depressing than Labor Day. Which was always the Monday before the new school year started. :(

I liked Christmas time when I was a kid, these days I like the fourth of July.

I'm not a very big holiday person... but I like days off. Thanksgiving and Christmas time is nice too. But the weather is usually not nice. Well, maybe for Thanksgiving it can be ok.

That's right.

FWIW, I thought the selections used for the poll here were pretty good.

Here in Germany the Christmas holidaysalways last traditionally until the 6th of January = Twelfth Night = the Day of the Three Holy Kings - as it should be! :)

Christmas holidays here always last until January 6 - and school is interrupted again by one week of Carnival holidays - in the week of Ash Wednesfay.
