Just wondering what jazz album I should start with? I'm looking for something with a heavy bass to it. I love the bass!

Check out Bernard Harris. One of the better bassists around. I also recommend Tim Bowman (guitar), Kirk Whalum (sax) especially his "Hymns in the Garden" cd, Jonathon Butler (guitar), Denver and the Mile High Orchestra (big band/swing), Angella Christie (sax).

Stanley Clarke is pretty amazing. I listened to the album "school days" and a number of singles posted on youtube.
Jaco Pastorius totally blew me away! Great stuff.

I suggest you to start with Benard Harris album as it is cool to hear and I think as a learner it will be easy to start with this album.

Buddy Rich's Big Band, awesome, with lots of drive. Sadly, he is dead now, but his music will forever sound great.
