  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Which is more harmful to humanity... sin or stupidity?

Slavery, Egypt,

Heb`Egypt-Mitzrayim=limitations, boundaries, constraints.

"G-d took us out of Egypt, but He did not take Egypt out of us."

Egypt remains alive inside the heart it makes us feel small and unworthy.

Shifra Hendrie.
That would be the work of the Spirit.

They also preferred bondage over death. When I read the old testament I'm amazed God hasn't finished us off.

I believe the knowledge of good and evil, and legalism is at the heart of feeling in bondage. Although, better to have a legal system rather than none at all. Where would society be without the police? But, we know that God didn't design us to live that way ... And He's reconciling through Christ., setting the captives free.

We can still be like these passages because what we know feels safe, even if we may be miserable. It is a lack of faith in God (Christian perspective) and an ignorance as to why the law was brought in.

Exodus 14:
10 When Pharaoh came near, the people of Israel looked and saw the Egyptians coming after them. And they were filled with fear and cried out to the Lord. 11 Then they said to Moses, “Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What have you done to us, in bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Did we not tell you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone and let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die here.”

13 But Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid! Be strong, and see how the Lord will save you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today, you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you. All you have to do is keep still.”

The Law, Halachah meaning "The Way", before certain people were called Christians (by others)

there were people who were said to be on" the Way".

There is no prison or prison sentence in halachah, it is simply not there.

If one cannot pay back what one has stolen, then he must work for the victim until it is paid for plus extra costnad.

Just a tiny weeny glimse.

When the people came to the sea of reeds (red sea) with Pharaoh and his army on their heels,

They split up into four groups,

1, surrender and return to Egypt.

2, Stay and fight.

3,Hold a prayer meeting.

4,I cannot recall.

Moses told them they were all wrong, the orders were to go forward, so they did and they crossed as on dry land.

But Pharaoh and his armyy drowned.

The slave mentality is the cause of uncertainty and fear.

Hagar was an Egytian princess but she prefered Abraham and Sara´s household instead.

I do not know if this is of interest for you, but it is a piece of Torah study.

I'm interested in others views and God has used others to help me understand scripture, as in the bible. I just see it through the lens of what I believe He has revealed to me personally, as I believe all Christians should as He is our authority. No one should just take another's word for it, not even another Christian's word.

I'm am an observer of life and I often see an unfolding of scripture in life.

The only issue I really have is when people try and undermine my beliefs through undermining me as a human being, but I'm not perfect myself so as I like to say I like to give passes considering our fallen human nature, still maturing, etc. When it becomes a pattern is when it becomes more an issue with the individual, even if that be me. And there is only so long I can cover a topic as need to give time for God to work, or for those that don't believe in God, to consider. I wrote something on this once ... I'll see about locating and sending link

Something that may help in these things. Even if we don't believe in God, we can see value there. At times I need to a refresher too.

On this, as I believe God has shown me, at its basic level a lack of faith is the cause of uncertainty and fear, and sure, within that the slave mentality devoid of faith would fit in.

The Torah doesn't see it like that?

2025 Purim 13-14 March. Start this evening.

Esther did not end up in the palace of the King by chance.

Take care and may you go from strength to strength.

Interesting, recently had a dream referencing Esther. It was pretty powerful. I had to read the story again as I hadn't read it so long I had to refresh my memory.

I'll read it yet again.

Speaking of movies, recently watched "The Heretic". Hugh Grant was phenomenal as an atheist. The arguments were typical, and Interesting topics explored, especially the two doors leading to the same place.

I just think they could have done a much better job after the descent downstairs.

I love using symbolic references in storytelling as I see it relate to the message I'm trying to convey. Rod Serling and M. Shyamalan I love there. It's a great way to convey a message, and my favorite being Jesus and his parables.

Anyway, this thread has taken a few turns, but thinking the OPster does not mind as hasn't said anything, and most likely checked out a long time ago. Don't see any complaints so thought I'd bring that movie up.
