People are always telling me I'm young and I have all the time in the world and I have plenty of time before I worry about marriage and children and the future. But when I worry about my job or things career related, people tell me Life is too short and life goes by so fast. From my perspective life does go by too fast, so it's not like I do have all the time in the world. Sigh, I guess it's all in God's timing, not ours, but one can only be patient so long. Anyways I guess this was more of a vent than a question. Anyone else feel this way?

Well, sometimes I do. I still feel like the fist day of high school was yesterday, yet here I am 2000 km away and about to finish university! What happened? Aren't Green Day- Dookie and Offspring- Smash still the two most popular CDs? Where did Soundgarden and Pearl Jam go? I miss them. (those are rhetorical questions:))

God is ALWAYS faithful. Read anywhere in the Bible and you'll notice that ...it's a theme throughout. Talk to Him. :) It's hard to be patient, but you don't want to ruin the surprise! That's how I see it...God wants to surprise us with some pretty great blessings, but it seems like (at leat in my case) that I get so impatient I try to do things on my own and it sort of ruins the sweetness of the surprise. If that makes sense! Here's an analogy:
It's your birthday and your friends are going to surprise you with a cake. But it's going to take them awhile to bake it and make sure it's just right and comes out of the oven at just the right time and that all the icing is put on decoratively, etc. You wonder if they are going to get you a cake and you start to get impatient waiting to find out! So, you take things into your own hands and decide to bake the cake yourself, because YOU WANT A CAKE. So you bake the cake, hurry it, and it comes out only half done. Then, your friends finally finish the cake, but it's too late, you went and baked one yourself. They're so disappointed because they wanted to surprise you, but they had to get the cake just right! The surprise is ruined.

If I think of my future, marriage, getting my grad degree, and all the other stuff I want to do with my life, as the analogy above it helps me to be more patient. Makes me realize that God has His timing for a reason, and just maybe, He wants to surprise us! If He gave us what we want right this minute, we may not be ready for it!

I believe individuals make these haphazard remarks with the objective of comforting us, yet we realize that tomorrow is not guaranteed and therefore we discover little solace in their well-intentioned phrases. The truth of the matter is, some of us will perish without ever having accomplished what we considered important dreams. As arduous a task as it can be to accept when we are inundated with sentiments of failure and loneliness, the Lord does indeed know the end from the beginning, and that which is not currently present within our lives is not necessary for us insofar as growth, which is most imperative. A certain circumstance, if introduced at the wrong time, can produce disastrous results if our hearts have not been adequately prepared beforehand to accept it. Nevertheless, for those of us in Christ, we are at this very moment endowed with every spiritual gift necessary for a victorious, fulfilled existence, irrelevant of whether our most dearly-held wishes come to fruition or not.

Of course, applying this truth can be exceedingly difficult. :)

Well.. I still have lots of time for me before I get into the boyfriend stuff. The last boyfriend I had, he wanted me to have kids when I was in my 30's! I don't want to wait that long. We disagreed on a lot of things!

I think when it's all over, we will all have a good laugh of the things we were so worried about.

I like to think that God's timing is right on time. Actually, I know it is. I know that if God does bless me with a spouse, it will be in His time, not mine and it will be at the perfect time for me. Now, at this moment, it may feel that I have waited forever and a day for that to happen! ;) But if and when it does happen, I think I will probably have one of those "a-ha" moments and I will be able to say "Oh, now I understand God. This is what all that waiting was about." Maybe it's to move me to a certain place in my life and walk with Christ or perhaps in his life, but I think at the time it does happen, it will all make sense, all the pieces will fit together.

As for what people tell you, just take it with a grain of salt. I agree with Starcradle, I think people say things like that in an attempt to try and make you feel better. Just remember that Jesus is the only one that can give us peace in this matter. And his peace is much better than any trite saying.
