  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Go with Norton 360. It does everything Norton Systemworks and Internet Security does and then some.

I have had nortons for many years, and twice in those years i have gotten viruses. Even though i kept my software up to date. In those instances nortons/scymatecs could find the problem, but couldnt do anything about it, so someone recommended avg freeware antivirus, it actualy took care of the probles, so since then i have dumped nortons.

I'm using AVG myself. I had Norton for a couple years, but it always gave me this error at startup that said it wasn't installed, and I had to click OK 1-3 times to get it to start. Their support info just led me in circles, so when the license ran out I got AVG instead of renewing. No problems yet.

You can get AVG at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1.

You can only buy Norton 360 online at the Symantec store at the moment. I believe its $60 total. And guys, I have tried AVG and Avast. Their OK, but in my opinion.... in order to have a full security suite, Norton tops them all.

I use Avast for antivirus http://www.avast.com, Zone Alarm for firewall http://www.zonelabs.com, and System Mechanic for a utility suite http://www.iolo.com, they also have a firewall and antivirus software.
I use to be all for norton, they were good years ago. I even managed to get my company to switch from Symantec corporate edition, to Avast's corporate suite. Runs faster/smoother, protects better and is cheaper.

Yeah, Norton was good until they started taking their customers for granted and started releasing buggy software.

I've been using AVG for more than two years now. Haven't got infected once. I'm a computer tech and I can tell you Norton/Symantec's software has been garbage for quite some time now.

Bottom line:
Don't waste your time or money on it. Trust me.

AVG and other free av software is easier on your memory (doesn't slow your computer down), is easy and fast to update, easy to uninstall (but you shouldn't have to), easy to install, doesn't crash and doesn't corrupt your Windows registry.
Norton has a poor track record in all those areas.

Using Norton 2007 (Antivirus I guess) but really they ticked me off as pc crashed a couple times and I had to reinstall Norton but after reinstalling it the 3rd time they wouldnt let me so I had to repurchase it.
quick, switch to avast or avg
so far the biggest/only problem I've had with avast is completely uninstalling Norton so I can install avast.
Symantec corporate edition is a bit easier on the uninstall though, thankfully.

Oh ok thanks everyone. Thank you for the advice and tips.

I've switched to Webroot SpySweeper with AntiVirus. You can get it for $10 when you already have Spy Sweeper. To get Spy Sweeper, go to www.webroot.com and click on the Kim Komando Listeners button. You'll get 2 years for the price of one!

Spy Sweeper is an awesome program. Low on resource, quick, and efficiant.

I recommend it.
